NHL Northeast: Kessel paying dividends for Leafs
By Dan Di Sciullo, Sports Network

Many folks thought Toronto general manager Brian Burke gave up too much to acquire Phil Kessel from Boston in the offseason, but the winger's start to the season has likely changed more than a few of those detractors minds.
Kessel came over to Toronto just a few weeks before the start of the season in exchange for a first and second-round draft pick in 2010, and another first- rounder in 2011. That is certainly a high price considering the Leafs could conceivably miss out on the playoffs in each of the next two seasons, making the picks Boston received even more valuable.

The Kessel trade is waaaaaaaaaaaay too early to judge right now. Since it involves high draft picks, it will have to be 4 or 5 years before a proper assessment of the trade can be made. It may turn out to be a short term gain.
Maple Leaf fans just have to remember the Tom Kurvers trade from New Jersey.........
