Improper US Government Payments Hit $98 Billion

Glad the President waited until $98 billion was wasted to start acting.

It is what it is, the government is a cesspool of crooks. This is nothing compared to the Trillions of Dollars the Department of Defense "loses" constantly. I know it is impossible to spend yourself out of debt but if we are going to spend money it might as well be for the people, like free healthcare and free education. I dont think it should be done universally but just add a few funds to the existing social programs that already are in place. Also everyone forgets that Trillions of Dollars always completely vanish, disappear, grow legs and walked out, through the Department of Defense. Under Clinton Trillions Disappeared, and Under Bush Trillions Disappeared. Im not saying spent unwisely Im sayin Trillions of dollars disappeared and is lost unaccounted for.

    Can you say "covert ops"?

I don't know about trillions seeing as the national debt is "only" $12 trillion, but the billions spent under the table through the Dept. of Defense goes largely to fund covert ops, support of foreign military action in situations that we do not want to openly get involved in (like South Korea) and to pay for the day to day operations of locations like Area 51.

Donald Rumsfeld openly admitted that the Pentagon spent 2.3 Trillion dollars in transactions that cant be accounted for. That is a lot of money to spend without owning a receipt or having an idea of where it is even at. I personally think it went to covert operations and shadow government operations some justifiable possibly and some most likely not.

I am sure that plenty of special projects got funding too. By special projects I mean things that Senators and staff wanted funded but knew they would never get it on a legitimate bill.

I didn't hear the $2.3 trillion thing before. I wonder what time frame he was referring to. There is no doubt in my mind that if you go all the way back to the Nixon, Carter and Reagan years that there was a lot of undocumented spending going on.
