Sending PAYPAL payments as "GIFTS"
Just a heads up for you buyers, that sending paypal as a "gift" does not warrant any protection with paypal if you get ripped off.
Why? Because it is a gift and not a "transaction." Meaning if the seller were to never send you anything, you'd lose out on your money. A claim with paypal will probably not get you anywhere, since you sent it as a GIFT meaning in goodwill. Remember this is a TRANSACTION, not a "GIFT"! Protect yourself!
I believe the fees is only 3%.. Think about it 3%.
For every dollar that's only THREE cents. For every $10 dollars that's only THIRTY cents.
It's for your own protection.. !Last edited by chippy; 11-24-2009 at 11:40 AM.

Very valid point. The response to that is that each time to send off a package, you have no way of knowing that you're going to receive anything on the other end. Looking at it this way, there's an inherent risk in this trading/buying thing we do anyway...still doesn't take away from any of your points.
My wantlist is below, but this is not all-inclusive. I'll look through lists!

exactly. paypal covers the buyer and not the seller. how is that fair? so because of that, I see no issue for GIFT payments.

Payment is what you make when you purchase something..
Gift is something you voluntarily give..
In this case if you were to send paypal as a GIFT and not get anything back in return, you the BUYER, will not get your money back.

lol. you dont get it. the buyer is protected, but not the seller. whos to say someone buys a card via paypal, gets it, but claims they never did. they get a refund and you're out a card and the money.
nope, Ill ask for paypal gifts. thanks. if you dont want to buy that way, then dont. its no different then making any trade here - you just have to trust who you deal with.

I do get it.. I have over 100 + transaction on ebay as a seller and a buyer.
There's something called delivery confirmation that protects you as the buyer for .65 cents. You can enter it in paypal after you've mailed it to confirm it, and chances are it's the BUYER that is getting screwed. Not the seller.
Really though come on now. The only reason why you are accepting it as a gift is because you don't want to lose out on that 30 cents for that $10 card.

you cant really force someone into sending as a gift, that means they send the money and now you dont need to send anything...sellers have protection with paypal if you send with DC, would you rather lose .65 or $20, apparantly you'd rather lose .65
