Don't miss out on anything if you can avoid it....go to every doc visit...be there for all the ultrasounds...and most of all, remember to enjoy it...because you can't get it back after the fact...
After birth...sleep is crucial...but more importantly, keep mom happy...lol
And congrats!!!

Got two amazing little girls. Agree with everything the others have said so far, but in my opinion, the single biggest thing mothers- and fathers-to-be should know is you're life is about to change. I know that's simple and obvious, but I see faaaaaar too many parents who try to hang on to their old lifestyle after they have a kid....dumping them at the grandparents all the time to go out partying, etc. Your life changes and you have to accept that or it causes problems. I would love to still go out, go riding around whenever I want, go on long road trips, etc, but I realize my family and especially my kids are at home and they need me around, so I'm there. Just something I've seen quite a bit of lately that causes a lot more harm than people want to realize. And obviously you can just incorporate them into some things, but some things have to end or extremely tone down. A great example is a football game...yeah, you can take your kids to a game and have a great time, but you can't (or shouldn't, I should say) take your kids tailgating and get wasted like you did before kids (if you did, just an example).
And enjoy it...it's very easy to get very frustrated, but you gotta relax and always look at the bright side.
Congrats!

my little girl just turned 2. agree with everything the others have said. Want to second OPT's post though. Have seen that in a lot of me and my wife's friends when they have had kids. There are things I enjoyed before kids, but I would never go back. Just understand that being a dad to that kid is the most amazing thing you can be/do.

i have 3 boys!! And let me tell u it is a total lifestyle change!! Because u now have a family, and your decisions now effect your family, not just you and your wife, but as others have said, sleep is a premium, but the most important thing as Tony said KEEP MOM HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
