    Winless Nets fire Frank

The New Jersey Nets have relieved Head Coach Lawrence Frank of his coaching duties effective immediately, Nets President Rod Thorn announced Sunday.

Nets assistant coach Tom Barrise will assume the head coaching responsibilities for Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers.

A permanent replacement for Coach Frank has not been determined.

"I want to thank Lawrence for his more than a decade of service to the Nets, first as an assistant coach and then as the head coach for the past six and a half seasons. Lawrence always approached every day with a passion for his craft that was infectious, and his dedication to the game as well as his work ethic are to be both admired and appreciated. I wish he and his family only the best of good fortune in the future," the team said in a statement.

It's tough now for the Nets and this won't change the their downhill trend.

If a team is 0-17, it's hard to believe that the coach is the problem....

Lawrence was a nice coach, and I doubt anyone could win much with this group. Still, not a surprise - they need to shake things up, and a new coach is one way to go about that process.

I don't think it's the coach's fault.... it's hard to win with that group of players IMO.

I'm looking forward to the Brooklyn Ballers in 2012 though!

And i thought the Nets had a decent team w/ Harris, CDR and Brook Lopez. I guess Harris injury hurt them lol

Yeah, the Devin injury hurt. Losing Vince in the off-season also took away a huge chunk of their scoring punch. Currently, they're averaging a whopping 85.6 PPG with no player averaging 18 or better per game. Ouch.

Blech, I have no idea who they are gonna hire, a new coach wouldn't help at all

When your top three scoring guys are all second-year players, that really says something.

During the game yesterday, the Lakers announcers were saying Kiki Vandeweghe is a possibility for this season.
