Question About Signed Photo With COA
ey guys, i'm not an expert, well actually i'm a rookie at this whole signed photos thing. I was hoping to pick a few of these signed photos up as gifts to myself for christmas lol.
Now, i see that on NHL.com and on ebay(BUY IT NOW), autos of ovechkin go for hundreds of dollars. I now ask, why do the ones on ebay sell for like 30, and they have COA.
I was interested in this one, but i'm not sure if its the real deal.

Would like some input on it.
Please lmk

to me, it looks like that is a photo where sometime got him to sign it in person. You can buy those pictures for like 4-5 bucks without the auto on them. And it's not hard for someone to make a COA and from reading it, it sounds like the COA is for the original photo and not the auto. But that's just the way I read it. Just send the seller a message and ask if it was a IP auto or if it came from the store like that.

As Tyson said it more than likely in person. There no problem with those if it for personal love if real. It just when you try to move it later expect to take a hit. Sites like frozenpond will charge a lot. Buy from folks like fatherandson on ebay get in person auto's along with other sellers for penny on a dollar. Most just hound graphs to flip on ebay.

You need to find out who the COA is from, is it from a big company or one that has a solid reputation. Just because he says it has a COA does not mean anything. Anyone can make up their own COA. The hologram on the photo is a a NHL hologram used to show it is a licenced NHL product, it has nothing to do with the auto. A COA is only as good as the company backing it up.

Here a good video of albeit baseball but it talks about how COA's mean nothing. Even cards from the big company are occasionally FAKE.

I do not think the video is saying COA's mean nothing, it is saying that the buyer needs to do their homework on the item. Look into the company giving the COA especially if it is an item authenticated of a dead or superstar player. For players today, stay with Steiner, Frozen Pond, AJ Sports, Frameworth, MM, Hockey Ink, Lucky Sports/SYA, Upper Deck, I do not care what the video shows, I wouldnt touch a Jordan without UD paper work. I wouldnt touch a Gretzky without WGA or UD paper work. I know I am forgeting some other companies. All these companies are pricey but you get what you pay for.
Ovechkin has his own hologram that he has on items, I have seen this becoming more and more common with players. If you are going to spend the money spend it on an Ovechkin auto with his own Hologram and a COA from a major comany. Or if you are lucky enough get him in person yourself, then you have no worries. If you would like to see a scan of his hologram for reference, pm me.
