    2009 Redsfest

Went to Redsfest 2009 - AMAZING! Met and received autographs of Chuck Harmon (first African-American Cincinnati Red), and Big Red Machine members Clay Carroll, Jack Billingham, and Pedro Borbon. I was lucky enough to have Mr. Harmon sign my Civil Rights Game jersey and the Civil Rights Game booklet.

Also landed auto...s of Tommy Helms, Leo Cardenas, and Illustrator C.F. Payne.

There was also a VERY SWEET display of the Civil Rights Game that included an autographed Stars jersey by Buck O'Neil, a Hank Aaron game used jersey, helmet, pants, and a SICK mural of past Negro League players.

I have 2 cameras of pics that will be developed and will be posted later.

    Scans here:

    Best part, only $15 admission.

I missed out on meeting Eric Davis . . . he was my favorite player growing up as a kid. He was signing autographs for VIP members in the Reds Hall of Fame and was behind a makeshift curtain. I could see him, he could see me, I waved to him, he smiled, and I asked a volunteer if I could just meet him. I explained that I have been a lifelong fan of Davis and I don't want an autograph, I just want to take a picture and meet the man. It was 2 younger guys so they said yes until a 40 year old geek stopped them and explained that Mr. Davis is only available for VIP members. I'm very good at convincing others but no luck on this guy. This little man also hung very close to the entrance and was telling others not to let me in. I'm thinking he has VIP envy . . .

The one auto that got away was Ron Oester - times just never meshed up for me to obtain his auto. Before I left I asked my cousin by marriage if he could try to get an auto for me. This cousin attended both days, the full hours each day. I received a text after the event saying that he couldn't get the auto. I was curious so I asked how many autos he landed over the two days? His answer for a person who attended Friday 4-11 and Saturday 11-7 . . . 5 autographs!

    I think I'll stop there . . .

Sounds like you got the main need! WTG buddy.......glad you had fun!

Looks like a fun event. If the Yankees ever did something like this, it would be a mob scene. Glad you had fun.
