Longtime Red Wing McCarty announces retirement
Darren McCarty, the longtime Detroit Red Wing and a veteran of 15 NHL seasons, announced his retirement Monday.
McCarty, 37, won four Stanley Cups with the Red Wings -- 1997, 1998, 2002, 2008 -- and played in 758 regular-season games, scoring 127 goals, 288 points and 1,477 penalty minutes.

McCarty will always been one of my favorite players of all time. He did great things for the Red Wings, both on the Ice and on the Bench. He was great in the Playoffs. I love him.
