    Was thinking of going wth the Asus, but they are back ordered and i am shopping for my father in law he wants one for a gift for someone, But he dont want to go into the store to get it, because the closest store is a couple hours away

    I would reccomend hp. We have had several laptops made by them and they have lasted a long time and worked great.

    Don't buy a acer they are horrible. We bought two because they were cheap at the time and both broke in less than two years.
    My power supply went up, the wireless card broke and the hd failed several times.

    not sure how much the dell laptops are but my desktop comp. is a dell and my wife's dell laptop works great.

    Only real issue we had with her laptop was it wouldn't recognize the CD drive, called up dell and they came to fix it.

    Search deals sites like www.fatwallet.com and www.slickdeals.net . They have several good laptop deals posted each week. Also, learn what bing cashback is before you make your purchase, as you'll probably be able to get some free money out of buying it online somewhere.

    Bing had 20% cashback on ebay not too long ago. I was eying up a new desktop and monitor, and after getting back a free $200, I couldn't say no.
