It goes the other way around; it's pretty annoying when you tell someone that you have a card they need, they respond that they are interested and to check their bucket, you check and respond what you are interested in, and then you never hear anything back.

    can't stand that.

This happens to me often too, and I sometimes do it as well, but I always keep my message thread "alive" so I can return a message.

I do believe there are many people that can't put a great deal of time into the hobby. I'm not making excuses for them, but time can be an issue for lots of people. For myself I work from 8am-10:30pm most of the week except Wednesday's. I have a little time between 4:30 and 8:00. I try to keep up on all my communications, but once in a while accidentally delete a thread. If your real serious of the trade you were working on, you could give it few days, and re-respond if you kept your PM thread live. If you don't get a response from that. Then move on.

I know if I didn't work so much, and didn't have my kids on my off days, I more than likely would be trying to put about a couple hundred trades together a month. And I would do it!

Just keep in mind, one possibility is some people don't have all the time in the world, and do have lives outside the hobby. Otherwise there are tons of people eager to trade with on any given day.

I understand what you're saying, but some people stop responding even a few minutes after sending the pm..and their status is online. How hard could it be to say..no I'm not interested?

If this is referring to me, it's because I was thinking your offer over and gaining more information on it, and planned on returning the PM tonight, which I am about to do.

But this bugs me too, especially for one thing, I PM'ed the OWNER of Hobby Insider on there to ask him a question about the site, and got no response. Now that's stupid..

No it's not referring to you. I know you would've returned the pm since It's a PC item..Sorry if you took it personally.

Without mentioning any users or names, I find it annoying when someone is interested in a card I have and asks me if I would be interested in trading or selling...Yet they stop responding when I tell them what I want in return or ask them to make me an offer. Thank god that not all the users here are like that.

Does it happen to anybody else?

I'm guilty of that. So, if it was ever me, I apologize.

In the past two days, I've received 37 PMs. Not every one is the same priority and sometimes they fall by the wayside. I'm happy to say that I've spend 4 hours today responding to as many PM's as I can as well as preparing SCF trade packages (taping and what not). I still have 8 unread PM's from today, up to a week and a half ago. They remain unread to remind me that I HAVE to respond to them.

After getting home at 6, cooking dinner and spending some quality time with the family, I'm surprised I got through as many as I did.

In any case, there are many reasons why someone might not respond right away, even if they are online. They may have several offers on a card and maybe your offer isn't as good as someone else's and they want to wait a few days to see what they can get. I've had people offer up to me two pretty common cards and ask for really expensive stuff in return. The reason I leave those unread is because I need to think about how to say no politely. Sometimes figuring out how to say no politely just gets pushed back and back until... well, you forget.

At the very least, I may take forever, but I DO respond. Sometimes I lose out on a deal... but, its just a hobby. For fun. And sometimes fun takes longer for me.

Hopefully that person gets back to you soon. It sounds like it was an important deal for you.

    Cheers,
    reoddai

Do you mean like when someone has a pile of 1972 redemption points.
Send them Pm's about some Carey price cards and never hear back.

All of this is exactly what I had in mind in my earlier post.

We have a huge mix of people on here. All age groups, with different amounts of responsibility, and that time is a big factor for some of us more than others. For you reoddai to have 37 PM's to answer is a lot to go through, especially with outside responsibilities. All of your examples are legitimate. I have had the many trades ongoing scenario, and have tried to maintain it. I won't try that again. And thinking about offers has to be taken into account. That's very important.

You can't really take it to heart when someone isn't getting back to you right away. If someone isn't too interested at the moment with trading, you can always ask a couple or three days later to see if their still up for a trade.

Some of the people I have traded with know this, and yes I have successfully completed those trades. In fact there a couple of guys waiting on me right now, but they know eventually, I'll get to it.

I hope yours works out in the end too.

    Take care
    Brian
