You can still buy older UD and Topps products!

Anytime is a good time! :-) I don't know whether now would be better, or if next year would be better, or last year would be better...you could get boxes of 0708 products (Durant's rookie year) for pretty cheap...

If you asked in 1986, 1996, 2003, etc. I would have said yes to any of those years. Same for this year. The later you wait, the more catching up you'll have to do. :)

I've actually been out of card collecting since the early 90's and just got back in a couple of months back. NBA is my preferred professional sport and preferred sports card. The card collecting hobby has obviously been down over the last decade and more since a lot of local "card shops" have closed. This year the NBA decided to change things up and try to "jump start" the hobby and try to get a little more interest in the hobby by giving Panini the "exclusive" license to sell the card! I Strongly disagree with the NBA's move in this area! I think it is important to have competition in every industry because it makes company focus more importantly on creating a great product and providing excellent service! Even with all this said, the most important thing about a individual card is it's demand, how many were produced and how much a person is willing to pay for this card. Simply put, supply and demand!! My 2 cents...

Panini releases have been god awful so far. Either stick to singles from UD and Topps or stick to whichever sport you currently collect.
