    mark mcgwire

Since he's now a hitting coach for St. Louis, do you think that he'll be at spring training games and if so, do you think it'd be easier or about the same difficulty to get his autograph as when he was a player (as I failed miserably then)? Also, do you think he'd sign a card with him and Jose Canseco on it or would I be better off having him sign a card with just him on it?

The question as to having him sign a card with another player is always a tough one. It is always fun to complete multiple player items. The thing is that many people think single signed items carry more value, unless they complete a whole team or theme. A signed baseball with Jeter, Arod and Bernie Williams might be cool, but it would bring much less on the market than three different balls signed by those three guys. Certain players just do not care any longer for the guy they are pictured with either. I know that at least for awhile that John Bench would not sign anything with Pete Rose on it. I do not know how Mark feels about Jose, but would you risk losing your chance at Mark just because Jose is on the card? I assume that you wanted the two players as you are an A's fan? I would think that getting them signed on different cards and displayed with each other would be able to give you a better display. We all know that Jose really hurt some feelings around baseball with his tell all book that in the long run will help the game.

Bingo! And coupled with "I plead the fifth" in front of Congress, I wouldn't think Jose and Mark are that much of friends anymore.

I second the get them on different items and then display it together. It is likely the best you will get.

if you have more access to Canseco, get them both on ROMLBs and then get a two case thing from somewhere and u can display them wonderfully with separate cards too. theres lots of nice things to do with a little creativity.
