Hockey official's throat cut during junior game

WOODSTOCK, Canada — An ice hockey linesman remained hospitalized on Wednesday, a day after his throat was slashed by a skate during a junior league game here.

Canadian media reported Kevin Brown was trying to break up a fight when the skate blade cut his neck, causing a wound that poured blood as he skated off the ice.

Brown, 25, was initially reported in stable condition, but Woodstock Renegades owner Bill McLeod said he had since been told Brown was "not doing so well now."

Team trainers said Brown drifted in and out of consciousness as he was loaded into an ambulance.

Yes he is listed in critical condition. I was under the impression everyone in junior hockey had to wear neck guards? I guess officials are excluded. Still, thats a nasty thing to happen.

That might add throat guards after this incident. I hope he recovers from the incident.
