printing on photo paper
Has anyone printed 8x10's on photo paper from a photosmart printer before? Do they come out as good as if I got them done at Walgreens for example?

If you use the Premium Gloss photo studio quality with a standard color cartridge and a photo RGB cartirdge you will get the same quality.
If you don't have the Photo Ink Walmart carries it for about 19.50$

I've used a few different Photosmart printers for my 8x10s and cards. I currently have an HP Photosmart Premium all in one that works great.
The only drawback to printing them yourself is that the ink is very touchy with moisture. Every once in a while I'll get back a photo that had water drops spilled on it or a thumb print in the ink. The ink doesn't react well to water at all. That's not something you have to worry about with a print from a developer. Incidental water contact isn't going to ruin those, but will streak or smear the ink on the photos you print yourself.

So a HP photosmart printer would provide quality photo studio pics?
I have tried a few printers without much success. I currently go to Walmart to get my pics printed but would rather do this at home.
Also would anyone know what the amount of pixels is needed for a quality photo on a 8x10?

I will take a professionally printed over a inkjet/photosmart photo any day, especially if they are getting signed. The pro version holds up better over the long-term and will hold the auto a lot better.

I print all my customs on my Photosmart all in one. This includes my large pics (8X10s) to my small cards (CICs). I have no problems as long as I give the pics at least 15-20min to dry. When I mail out multiple cards (in #10 envelope), I put a blank piece of paper between each card so that the ink doesn't smear on the other cards when they get run through the "hot" USPS mail sorters. I learned this lesson after getting my first customs back with "colors" on the white areas - lesson learned...

Does anyone get "blanks" signed and then print pictures on top of them? I have been thinking of trying, but I am very big on high quality photos/autographs and feel like it would deteriorate the autograph.
