Cabana & Strong are two of my favorite ROH guys. Nice going!

Thanks, those guys were pretty cool and down to earth. I was surprise to see the wrestlers move freely around the center without much people asking them for autographs or photos with. Could have gotten Jay Briscoe, Petey Williams, Kenny King, Kenny Omega, and Tyler Black as well, but didn't have anything for them to sign except index cards.Last edited by tboculosis; 03-20-2010 at 06:41 PM.

Attended the local sports radio station 97.1 The Ticket's "Sportsfest" fan appreciation event today held at the Rock Financial Showplace out in Novi, MI today. Arrived there at 8:30 in the morning because in order to be in line for Calvin Johnson, one of the signing guests, they were going to start distributing 300 tickets starting at 9am. Well, they cut the number down to only 200, so I was probably somewhere after 200, but before 300. I was out of luck this time, but not too devastated since I've already gotten Calvin last season. Signing policy was only 1 autograph per person, so got the following players they had there as signing guests to sign:
former NBAer John Long - 1/1 trading card, 1/0 8 1/2 x 11 Pistons promo photo that he handed out
former NBAer Don Reid - 1/1 trading card
Pro Football HOFer Lem Barney - 1/1 8 x 10 photo
Pro Football HOFer Charlie Sanders - 1/1 8 x 10 photo
former NHLer Eddie Mio - 1/1 Index card
former NHLer Mike Krushelnyski - 1/1 trading card
former NHLer Mickey Redmond - 1/1 index card
former NHLer John Ogrodnick - 1/1 trading card
former NHLer Darren McCarty - 1/1 8 x 10 photo (ended up accidentally smearing it a little by me)
Detroit Red Wings forward Kirk Maltby - 1/1 8 x 10 photo
former NBAer Rick Mahorn - 1/1 8 x 10 photo
former MLB player Dan Petry - 1/1 trading card
former MLB player Scott Lusader - 1/1 trading card
former MLB player Dave Bergman - 1/1 trading card
former MLB player Larry Pashnick - 1/1 trading card
Other than Calvin, only missed out on Lions' Zack Follett. The radio station's first time putting on this event, so there were many things still shaky, especially the way they handled distributing the tickets for the autograph sessions. Overall, I did enjoy myself and hopefully they'll make this fan appreciation event an annual deal.

Nice job at that event. If I was still going to school in MI near Detroit, I would of gone to that event today but I would of went after Don Reid, Rick Mahorn, and any of the (former) NFL, MLB players that were there.
Just wondered was anybody able to get multiples from the lesser known guys??? I would of imagined that the line was not to long for players Don Reid, Larry Pashnick....Last edited by sigman101; 03-20-2010 at 10:40 PM.

Thanks. Don Reid was actually seen walking the floor after he signed, so if anybody needed multiples of him, they could have gotten him, though I don't think anybody bother him much once he was on the floor. Saw a couple of people as well as an Ebay seller jumped back in line multiple times for the Tigers alums since their lines weren't that long.

Good to hear they were nice. To bad you didn't have anything for the others to sign. I would've just used the index cards, especially for Briscoe, because Jay & Mark are my favorite tag team right now.

Yeah, maybe next time they are in town, I'll get them on index cards or photos that I get printed out.

Met Detroit Red Wings great, Hockey Hall of Famer and legend, Gordie Howe, at a paid signing he was doing out at a sportscard store in Troy, MI today. Gordie was friendly, talkative, and great as I expected him to be. Got Gordie to sign my 16 x 20 photo and asked if he would include his nickname of "Mr. Hockey" along with his HOF induction year on it, which he obliged.

After work today, drove out to the Meijer store out in Chesterfield, MI where Pistons' Ben Gordon was making an appearance. There were literally 40 or less people total in line for this signing and no signs of the usual Ebay sellers that I see at every signings around the area. Got Ben to sign a trading card for me, my cousin's Photofile photo, and a Meijer Ben Gordon promo photo for my brother. By 5:45 pm, there were nobody in line except some of the Meijer employees wanting to meet and get Ben's autograph. Forgot to bring my camera, so missed out on getting a picture with Ben.

Detroit Pistons' rookie forward, Jonas Jerebko, made an appearance at The Post Bar bar & grille out in Auburn Hills, MI as a guest on a local sportstalk radio show broadcasting there. Got Jonas to sign 2 trading cards for me. Then as Jonas was leaving in the parking lot, his teammate, Kwame Brown, pulls in as he and his girlfriend stopped by to grab something to eat. Didn't have anything prepared for Kwame, so didn't get him.
