Could Dallas Stars Be Involved in Future NHL Winter Classic?
by Brandon Worley
The NHL's annual Winter Classic has become an incredible event, successful in ways that the league could never have imagined. The spectacle surrounding the event has become bigger than the game itself and is reminiscent of the NFL's Super Bowl. The game on the ice hasn't disappointed either, with overtime thrillers being played in 2008 and 2010, in front of boisterous and enthusiastic crowds. With the 2010 Winter Classic in the books, the sights are now set on who will be playing in next season's game and where that game will be held. The Washington Capitals have already made their bid to host the game, and it's a logical choice for what has become a great hockey city and atmosphere.

I don't expect Dallas to host the winter classic anytime soon.

A Winter Classic in Dallas just wouldn't work. Just because Jerry Jones built a huge new stadium, doesn't mean they get a Winter Classic. It just won't work in 60 degree weather in Texas

Dallas at Minnesota would be a good matchup and should be a future thought. Others I see as good ones would be Rangers/Devils in NY, Leafs/Sens in Toronto and Canucks/Flames in Vancouver.

My friend and I were talking about it yesterday. Perhaps a Stars/Oilers matchup in Edmonton? A Stars/Wild matchup would be cool too.

Any Canadian cities would be a good place to have a winter classic because it is cold, and Canadian fans would be more into the game, in my opinion. Also, I don't think the next classic would be in Edmonton or Montreal, because Edmonton and Montreal had their own classic a few years ago.

I don't think it should be in Canada at all since it was created to bring interest to US teams and US cities. Canada can wait and they will most likely receive their own game in the next year or two.
One in US = Winter Classic
One in Canada - Call it the Heritage Classic again?
