I am totally biased to ignore me if you want, but I say Kidd hands down for a number of reasons...
1. Mr. Triple Double- Kidd gets it done on all areas of the court
2. Defense- Goes along with triple double, but Kidd can guard the 2 guard, the 3 and point
3. The System. Nash has always been in a high scoring fast paced offense, Kidd has not.
4. The Olympics. Kidd NEVER lost an international play game....'
5. Minutes Played- Kidd has stayed healthy, and plays lots of minutes. Gotta like that.
6. Flashy plays. I just like Kidds passes better, nash has some but not as many cool ones as J-Kidd. He truly has eyes in the back of his head.

Call me crazy but the East has far and wide been a weaker confrence then the West, which Nash has played in his entire career, to hold NBA 1st team awards and finals apperances is decieving, Nash played on great Mavs teams, but LA dominated the same time the Mavs were at there peak, let me guess though, its Nash's fault Kobe/Shaq were awesome? and lets not forget the Spurs as well, really when Kidd was in New Jersey who was any good? the Pistons took over from 2003-04 to 2007-08 from when the Nets were going to the finals though it was more of a lack of good teams i'd say, also Nash has 2 less seasons...just saying that makes a differenceHidden Content

I say Kidd but it does not matter because this the NBA and it's about Lebron & Kobe nobody else.

This is all a moot point, as neither have an NBA title - so, the postseason appearances, etc, don't really matter. Plus, the topic of this thread is who is the better player...not who is the better player with postseason appearances, etc...
I will also say this - if I needed one good game from a PG, I would take Nash...if I needed an entire season of consistant good play, I'd take Kidd.

care to explain?
Please no "Kidd rebounds better" PGs are not suppose to rebound, they are suppose to be on the other guard, because if theres no one guarding that guard its a fast break oppurtunity waiting to happen, besides Kidd averages 6 rebounds, Nash averages 3, not a huge difference there, and i will take Nash's almost 50% field goal shooting for his career over Kidds rebounding/defense...
I don't doubt Nash can play good defense he just doesn't play in a system that goes towards any player on his teams to play defense

Defense - the most underrated part of the game. Barely anyone plays it anymore. Defense wins championships - and while neither have won a championship, Kidd has been closer. And I highly doubt Nash could play great defense now, simply because he hasn't played in a system with any defense for...well, a very long time. If you don't play it/try it, you lose the ability to do it.

never said great defense now did I? good defense would get it done, of course you'll never see it, but defense while its needed isnt EVERYTHING, you do need to score to win, and Nash is by far the better offensive player, its actually not even close

I'd take Nash any day.
Remember when the Suns traded Nash for Kidd? Kinda strange how both guys are now playing for their original teams!
There is a reason the Suns didnt want Kidd and went after Nash.
Nash has something that Kidd never had tenacity, and a killer instinct.
Defense is played by a team, not one player. I still guarantee that Nash creates more turnovers by taking charges then Kidd has making steals.
Also, free throw shooting is I think the most over-looked part of basketball. Somebody said defense was overlooked but they have All-Defensive teams and Defensive Player of the year, but not clutch free throw shooter of the year.
Anybody who can pass, shoot, and keep the momentum of a team moving forward is a hard piece to find at point-guard. Nash does all that and more.

Kidd does far more than steal the ball on defense. In fact, his team defense - i.e., knowing when and where to rotate - is where he excels the most, and where Nash excels the least. Having watched both consistently since 1997, I know their tendencies well. Nash can actually be feisty in a one on one situation, but he tends to waste energy and doesn't know where to rotate or how to fight out of picks.

WHAT? They have All-Defensive teams, and Defensive Player of the Year. How is defense, which like you said wins championships, under-rated? If it was the statement "Defense wins championships" wouldnt exist.
I think you meant to say over-looked perhaps?
