Writing contest new edition! $100 to win towards a box of cards on Cards by the box!
Once more, we have decided to encourage our members to get writing by launching a writing contest. Up for grabs is $100 towards a box of cards on www.cardsbythebox.com.
Here are the topics you can chose from for this edition of the contest:
- How is your card collecting addiction viewed by your entourage? Does your girlfriend/boyfriend support it? Are your friends seeing it as geeky? Ever been asked by your parents when you’ll finally grow-up?
-SCF prides itself on being a community we encourage interaction between members and hope that you not only get enjoyment out of it but also some solid friendships. Have you made long time friendships online through your collecting? Ever got an awesome surprise in the post from a fellow trader?
-As collectors there are products we love and products we hate that’s just normal but in the spirit of being positive, tell us who your favourite card manufacturer is and why. Give us examples of their best product, contests they’ve run, innovations they’ve made to the hobby, in a nutshell, tell us why they’re great! Remember, I’m looking for positive outlook here!
-How do you think we can get the younger generation interested in card collecting? What should the manufacturers do to ensure the continuity of the hobby? What can we, as individuals, do?
-If you were on the SCF staff and in charge or running a contest, what would it be and why?
-Hockey collectors: how do you feel about the first dual-licence year? How do you think the collecting year has been now that you could chose between Panini and Upper Deck for your official NHL products?
-If you could pitch a product/set to a card manufacturer what would it be? Would it be a big set? Would it be hits only or base set, inserts and hits? What would be featured in it?

I apparently am challenged. I just submitted two articles and neglected to tag them as "Contest Entry." Can I still count them as contest entries?

Writing about this, should have it done tonight or tomorrow.

I'd written in favor of a "let's strip things down" approach. Hope it's a worthwhile read.
