not buy uneeded things :)
I never buy bottled water. While I'm at school (I'm a teacher) I drink at least a full bottle of water every period, which equals to be about 7 bottles of water every day. However, I haven't had a new water bottle in about 4 months. I just fill it up every period at the water fountain and go off that.
Here's one that I just recently figured out.
Why have a home phone and a cell phone.
I was paying 49.95 a month for home phone and would reccieve nothing but telemarketing phone calls. I also have a cell phone plan that runs about a $100 per month. So I canceled the home phone, added a feature to my cell that allows me more "free" minute options (Verizon: Friends and Family/Alltell: My Circle/Tmobile: Fav 5) and use nothing but my cell phone now.
Buying/trading fewer cards
Eating out less
My family's always been rather frugal, though, so these adjustments weren't that hard.
I'm not :) so far I bought a 1972 Chevelle last month and this month locked in my hotel reservations for when I go down to San Diego for the week in July for Comic-Con
I don't have much money as it is but to save money i usually.
go online to compare prices.
reuse things like bubble mailers and cool whip containers for food.
buying things used rather than brand new.
sell things i do not need.
get together with friends when i am hungry, this way the pizza and soda only costs me 6 bucks.
i was also going to get a gym membership but started playing street hockey instead.
Buy store brand food, cleaning supplies, etc - usually they are just as good as the brand name.
Eat home cooked meals - don't eat out.
Walk/ride bike instead of driving.
Turn off lights/appliances when not in use.
Use fluorescent light bulbs for lights that are on for long periods.
Don't open the fridge/freezer unless you are taking something out - i.e. don't open and stare!
Don't grocery shop hungry!
Shop sales and use coupons. If you do it right, brand name items may be cheaper than store brands.
Save money?....What does that mean?....I have a daughter in college and a 15yo son that needs a car....Being a good parent is expensive..wouldn't trade none of it though
If you got the space grow a garden of your favorite veggies.
Allot of it can be canned or frozen.
Baking your own desserts in batches and freeze some will save you some money as well. Just freeze and take out as needed.
I watch allot of the food network show especially elton brown which I always learn something new on his show even space saving tips.
i just upped my IRA contribution. Made me save money that i cannot touch for a while
tell your 15 yr old to get a job:sign0020: i had to work for my first car and had to pay my own insurance, gas, repairs etc.
as far as saving $$ i turn off my strip outlet which has tv dvd vcr receiver etc plugged into it when not in use and unplug appliances when not in use.
I just don't eat out as much. I don't have a job and i'm 18 so i don't have much money right now anyways lol
save money - i have a part-time job for the weekends, i put 50% to savings.
of course, i'm young, so it is possible for me to save that much of each check, but hey, its saving eh?
I've been cutting back on buying cards, and not going out to the bars as much. My g/f and I eat at home at least 5 days a week, which is cutting back from where we like to go too eat. I will be soon taking my motorcycle to work which gets 70mpg, better than my car that gets 35.

I had to do those same things you did as a kid, but that is why I work so hard, to make it where mine don't have to....That explains why you wanted to trade me a $50 card for a $275 card the other day:winking0071: Lean times man, lean times.
