I didn't realize Montreal had Auld (Ottawa 1yr $1million) and Sanford (Columbus 1yr $600k) last season.
Fetish with ex-Canuck backups is over?

kinda wish the preds would do something... darn it...
maybe we're making a play for richards? doesn't sound like we are,. but you never know
very surprised we let ward go,. sully and goc I thought might be a possibility
with those 3 gone,. have have plenty of room to offer a 5 yr deal worth 7 M per to richards,
he will get more somewhere else so I don't think we're players,. but maybe

I really like what the Jackets have done this far...trading for Jeff Carter and trading a late pick for and signing James Wisniewski to anchor the blue line for now have been great moves I think. Columbus has never had a top center and the acquisition of Wiz really gives their defense a boost.
Not a big fan of letting Garon go, but they did sign Sanford and some kid from Nashville that can back up Mase. Rumor also has it that the Jackets are also talking to a few others...

Oilers did exactly what they needed to do. Added lots of veterans with Smyth, Hordichuk, Sutton, and Belanger. We also got a lot of toughness with Eager(and Hordichuk and Sutton again. Belanger is finally the face-off man we have been looking for for the last 3 years, and Barker is a decent project defenceman.
Needless to say, I'm a happy camper.

Blues signed Brian Elliot to a 1 year, two-way contract to challenge Bishop for the backup job. Not a smart move, in my opinion Halak needs a backup who is capable of challlenging for the starting job. Bishop/Elliot won't do that.

The Blues also re-signed D'Agostini and Cracknell.
