would stamkos really help those lottery teams more than 4 first rounders? if your drafting at the top regularly, then i would think you need to do a better job scouting/developing not giving up those picks to begin withLast edited by Pence23; 07-04-2011 at 11:48 AM.

From my stand point, I would much rather negotiate terms with him then let the market decide. Especially given recent signings. If Wiznieski is worth what he got Stamkos must be worth __________?
I think taking as long as they already have has only increased his value even more.

Can't see Burke signing Stamkos to an offer sheet either as he freaked out when Lowe signed Penner LOL

Oh ya, would have trouble seeing Burke doing that. Out of priciple alone! I could see other GM's doing it though. That is the way the rules are so why not.

Fair enough, but Stamkos has a lot of time left and the lure of being THE guy the Leafs build around could be tempting for him. Sure they have Schenn, Phaneuf and Kessel, but Stamkos would be THE guy.
That said, I don't see it happening.

Just a thought, Chicago is also rumored to be in the Stamkos hunt. If they are, would can/would they give up?

Capgeek says they have a little over $7million in cap space and still have to sign some guys.
Mind you, I'd rather have Stamkos than Kane.
