Just a thought, Chicago is also rumored to be in the Stamkos hunt. If they are, would can/would they give up?

Start with Kane and add from there.

Stamkos isnt going anywhere. This isnt the first time a RFA hasnt been signed right away and its not the last.

Lets not forget that as of right now Weber, Parise (both going to arbitration I know but still not signed), Yandle, Doughty, Bogosian, Simmonds, etc all just off the top of my head not signed yet.

Are they all getting offer sheeted or not wanting to play on their current teams?

Stamkos will get a deal worked out. Yzerman just isnt an idiot so hes not throwing league max at him and wont.

Brian Burke couldn't offer Stamkos a long term offer, because he was the one that moaned and cried about Kovalchuk's long term deal, this would make him a liar, but Toronto as you know has alot of pull with the NHL, that's why we don't have another team in Ontario, that team being the Coyotes who were being bought for twice what it was worth, now the NHL is stuck with another team in trouble, still.
Also I think TO would have to give up 4 first round draft picks.

NOT...............Can't afford him and not worth everybody they would have to give up to get him. Stamkos is not leaving Tampa Bay.

His contract will be front end loaded, maybe 10M, 10M and then less each year, with Tampa he will take less.

I have a very reliable source who is close friends with Stamkos, he is apparently very unhappy and on the verge of asking outright to be traded...stay tuned.

Carol - Burke is against offering these crazy deals to people in the later part of their career. Would be interested to see how he feels about a Stamkos...lol.

Oh my gosh.... Well, as much as I love Stammer, I think he belongs in Tampa because I would love him to be our franchise man, but if hes going to go we better get some crazy talent.

I really don't think Stamkos is unhappy in Tampa, they have a solid team with a great person in command, Stevie Y, considering what Burke has done this off season by signing a injury prone player for nearly 5M on the books.
