Whats Going to Happen With Rookies?

I noticed that Panini has released a ton of rookies in Suite, many only are in that set. I know for a fact a few of those are UD hold outs that are waiting to be in next years rookie class, will UD not be able to release them as True Rookies next year since panini ruined it for them? Please let me know thanks!

That's correct - can't have rookie cards in two different years.

wow i never realized that...UD should have planned better i guess then...thats smart business by Panini, keeps their cards value higher, which leads to more profit in box/packs breaks
Please check my inventory before my photobucket!!! It's more up to date!!!

that is very sneaky, there should be a rule like a player has to play by a certain date to be included in that years rookie class

    its sorta UD fault inaway

being new to the hobby (i used to, but years ago) i said i will only collect UD, as its really all i knew (and pinnacle, as well as older stuff)
however, panini has taken me over, i love the way they do things, a checklist in the box, easy accessible, and some products.
having said that the only reason i got panini is cause they have redone some of the retro type sets, and i really like them now (minus RED, and coalition issues.

you should give them a try

you are correct, but UD will try to market these players as rookies next year. These rookies next year, will not be rookies as panini will have released certified cards before.Im not for or against either company in this post. Its really up to the collector, what do you think is the players real rookie season?

The last part is a good point. I thought about this as a penguin collector after seeing alexander pechurskiy in spa. I mean he played one game on an emergency tryout basis and it was in mop up duty after the game was out of hand which shouldn't count as his rookie year for collecting purposes.

One thing to consider-- Panini is not sticking those guys in there to only beat UD to the punch. They're doing it because those autos are cheap. It's not like they're beating UD to rc's from anyone that's likely to be any good. The rookie spread for Panini in Luxury Suite reminds me of UD ice. And I'm glad thats basically gone.
