that is very sneaky, there should be a rule like a player has to play by a certain date to be included in that years rookie class

There is. For this year's content the cutoff date was the All-Star Game.

Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

I'm curious who UD was holding out on, and waiting to put into next year's products.

I'm the first to admit there are a few players in the LS set that I wanted to pick up rookie cards of (Jeff Petry, Trevor Gillies are the two that come right to mind) but I can't imagine that UD was treating them like locks to be in next year's sets. (They could have used Gillies this year, and Petry is like many other mid-season call ups.... decent player..... gets used as filler for The Cup and another late season release, or two).

Maybe I'm just not familiar with the content that went into Luxury Suite, but what big name players are in there..... that UD would possible have wanted to hold back on purpose?

As for next year, Upper Deck can release them however they want.... but instead of being common RCs, they'll just be commons.

I noticed that Panini has released a ton of rookies in Suite, many only are in that set. I know for a fact a few of those are UD hold outs that are waiting to be in next years rookie class, will UD not be able to release them as True Rookies next year since panini ruined it for them? Please let me know thanks!

Not much different than the BAp rookies for Evander Kane.

He has a rookie in 08/09 BAP /99 and another marked as a rookie in 09/10 again out of /99.

    which is a true rc?
Is anything in 09/10 a true rc because of the earlier release in one product?

i am in need of a bitm ore clarification...sorry.

Is it possible there could be UD Young Cards but they are not rookie cards? Or UD can now not put them on a young gun?

example, becuase I only really follow the Bruins. Steven Kampfer has a Rookie auto in luxury suite, will he have a young gun next year?

Every rookie from during the time BAP was released has 2 like Kane here. In this case the 09-10 would be the true RC, UD puts redemption in the earlier product for the next crop of rookies. Because these redemptions were put in products before the player debuted they become XRC's (Pre-RCs)
    Hope this helped.

100% different. BAP has been including redemption cards for the following year's rookies for several seasons. They put redemption cards into 08/09 for 09/10 rookies. They don't actually get made until 09/10, even though they're considered part of the 08/09 set.

Those cards are NOT RCs. They get the XRC tag, and are considered pre-rookie cards.

Any player that goes into a normal release this year, those will be RCs. If you have an actual RC in 10-11, you can't have one in 11-12.

UD can make Young Guns cards of anyone they like (see 04-05, 01-02 sets as example). They can make a Young Guns card of Gordie Howe or Wayne Gretzky if they want. They can write "Young Guns" on it, and short print it like the rest of that set..... but it doesn't make them rookie cards.

In the case of Steven Kampfer (or any RC in Luxury Suite) both UD and Panini can include him, as a rookie, in any set they want next year. That's their own call.... but since he's got a Rookie Card (or maybe Cards, never know what will end up in other sets?) this year.... next year's cards will not be considered to be rookie cards.

Another of the many reasons I have absolutely zero interest in rookie cards.

what makes me angry is that each player gets like 10 rookies this year, but each company has like one picture they use for almost every card just different sets. I have like 5 or 6 Brophey rookies and every card is basically the same picture. Rookie overkill.
