Question about different team jerseys in GU cards...
I've been picking up some Brian Leetch cards and I've run across 08-09 The Cup Limited Logos cards that have jersey patches from Ranger and Bruin unis. I've been back in collecting for a while now, and I don't know that I've ever run across different team jerseys used in the same set. I guess my concern is that some of these may be fake. Anyone know if this is a common practice?

It might not hurt to do a bit of research (if you can) and see if you can find any other cards of him from that set...if you only come across one Bruin swatch and all the rest are Rangers, for instance, then the Bruin one may be a fake. I've done this beofre just out of curiosity for some of MacInnis' Artifacts cards - google image, ebay, even type the player's name into photobucket and other image hosting sites, it might help.
Or, out of necessity and mem. availability, perhaps UD did use dofferent team's colors in the same set. I really think they did with the Artifacts series, but that's just my opinion.
Hope this helps :-)
PS....love the Barry reference...what a schmuck hahaha

I've done a search on ebay and google image. I only came across one other Leetch Limited Logo and it was a Ranger uni. However, I've found other Leetch gu cards from the 08-09 Cup and some are Ranger unis and some are Bruin unis. I'm confused. Lol
Glad to finally get a comment on the schmuck reference. I'm going to make a mouse figure of you tonight. Lol

Upper Deck tends to buy any jersey they can find of a player and use it even though the photo on the card doesn't match. If they run out of one jersey and start using another you might see different team patches in the same set, doesn't necessarily mean it's fake. Another example is Marian Gaborik Limited Logos from 09-10 The Cup, most were Rangers patches but there were also Wild patches used, I assume to use up the old inventory while they had the chance.

Upper Deck is famous for being one or two teams behind a player jersey card.
I have a 2001 UD Ron Francis 500 Goal Club Jersey.
Francis in a Canes Jersey in Photo and Card, Jersey, a Pens yellow one.
I also sold a 3 colour Leetch Jersey, Red White and Blue, with Leetch being in a Boston Photo with a Black and Yellow card.

Thornton, and Sharks in general, are a bit different. I remember Dr. Price saying that Sharks jerseys are quite hard to come by because the way the team handles their distribution makes them scarce on the open market. He also said he always asks the players if they can provide one as part of their agreement with ITG and even then it's hard because the players don't get to keep them very often. I'm pretty sure that's what he said, if he happens to see this thread maybe ha can offer some insight.
Kessel still having Bruins patches is bad but at the same time the card companies spend a lot of money on jerseys and would rather use up old ones instead of waste them.

I get it with the current players, but for retired stars..... makes even less sense.
I know for Bill Ranford..... 07-08 The Cup Limited Logos, they used a Bruins jersey. No problem with that (it was kind of nice to see some memoribilia other than Edmonton, despite the Oilers being my favorite team) but they still pictured him as an Oiler on the card. Should have just made it a Bruins card!
I know I've seen some Al MacInnis or Doug Gilmour (or both??) stuff floating around, where it's Calgary patches, but picturing them other teams. WHY???? Why not just make a Calgary card of them??
