Official Dominion Checklist Posted + See the First Break!
http://paniniamerica.wordpress.com/2...cklist-reveal/
The time has come.
After months of intense buildup and exhaustive sneak peeks that have created the kind of massive word-of-mouth buzz rarely — if ever — seen in the sports card industry, 2010-11 Dominion Hockey is ready to be unwrapped.
Earlier this week, amid the Panini America hockey team’s 16-hour work days spent hand-packing every last box of the most anticipated NHL product in years, we sat down with Karvin Cheung — the company’s Director of Product Development for Basketball and Hockey – to open the first three Dominion boxes off the line.
This special episode of Panini Unwrapped, filmed on location at the Panini America printing facility during the final hours of packout on Wednesday, provides just a glimpse into the endless possibilities that Dominion provides.
After you’ve watched the must-see world premiere video, be sure to access the product checklist provided – and then count the hours until 2010-11 Dominion Hockey releases to the public on September 14.

If the average break is similar to the ones they showed this product is going to be more overpriced than The Cup. I saw ONE good card out of three boxes, the rest was just basic jerseys, base parallels, and fugly autos.

I counted the assorted parallels of the base cards - 14 different versions for Carey Price. On the upside for me, there's an /25 of the Tag Team Combos with Carey/Josh, so it won't just be a 1/1 I'll be pursuing till the end of time. LOL

I don't think the autos are fugly, they look pretty darn nice IMO and have some great names included in the checklists, lots of guys UD can't or haven;t ever gotten.
I did make a comment on their blog about how rough some of the breaks are likely to be with the dizzying amount of parallels.
I think if you do autographs or patches for parallel cards in a high end set, that's ok, but just changing the foil color and/or jersey's on a base card is a brutal concept in a product with such a high SRP. BRUTAL.

I am happy I only have 3 actual cards to chase.
Yip Rookie Signatures
Yip Rookie Signatures Gold
Yip Rookie Signatures Black
The Plates are once again going to "if the price is right" and since it isn't like those /99, I dont believe it will have the patches embedded.
Too bad he never had photoshoot with Panini and Panini didn't decide to get a jersey.
Saves me some money while giving me a bit of cards.
...
Overall...
From the start:
Wood box looks good, but that box cover (not the cover of the actual box but the "sleeve") should have been a box itself instead of a slide out.
Like National Treasure, same format. Base, base parallels like mad, regular autos, and essentially one hit. The autos, jerseys, bases, regular auto rookies can literally sell for 5 dollars + and some less. And like Prime B said, quite Brutal with just foil changing colors.
It looks more like a competition of UD's Ultimate and not the Cup.

I believe the checklist is incorrect. The Tag Team Combos vary in numbering. Some were as low as /1. I expect to see an update to the checklist sometime in the future.

Took another look and I withdraw my fugly auto comment save for the "Big Buff" Notable Nicknames. That is a particularly fugly card and set.
I just can't get past the parallels and common jerseys I saw though. There are great hits to be had, but they're buried under a pile o' crap.

Similar to National Treasures but different. You get a little more autos and memorabilia per Dominion break. Usually 7-8 autos/memorabilia per pack, and many include dual autos, autos that aren't just parallels, and auto memorabilia to go with the big hit.Last edited by vegaspuck; 09-09-2011 at 12:22 PM.

Yes, the number of parallels is mind bottling...and excessive. But I think there are definitely some strong points to the product. They'll have the best rookies of Paajarvi, Tatar, Kadri, Markstrom, Tedenby, Stepan and others. They will all be Auto Rookie Patches /99, while the Cup has them in their set numbered to 249.
Unfortunately, the filler parallel stuff will get a lot of the focus and probably cause the most criticism with the product.

I'm not impressed with their break at all. I'd rather my money that was going to Dominion be spend on more of The Cup.
