Sadly, it's been like this forever and it's never gonna change. Dealers are a lot to blame with this trying to make money of new items...

I almost threw Andy Garcia through a window in 1991, no lie.
THAT said, there's just too damn many jersey cards out there. There were too many BEFORE last season and then Panini joined the fray. I have five Lemieuxseses, two of them are "rare"...... how many more do I need??? I have a few each of Roy & Yzerman & Lafleur & Sakic & all of my PC players, more Canucks than I want at this point, I've got Howe & Hull & other Hull. And Beliveau & Geoffrion and Dryden. I don't need any more of them. So I decided to start with the Crosby & the Ovechkin & the Malkin & the Price little mini-PC's, no Kane or Toews (HATE THE HAWKS!!!) And now I've got them. There's nothing left. Maybe Cody Hodgson if he actually stick with the team..........
So that's it. From the entire run of jerseys from all of last years products, I got a Crown Royale Legends set (minus the Selanne, I need the Selanne!!) and a SP Authentic Mario fight-strap card. And I just picked up Beliveau, Yzerman & Roy from ITG Canadiana.
The market is completely over-saturated. You heard it here first hahahahaaaaa!!!!!!Last edited by 87sluggo; 09-20-2011 at 03:13 PM.

That's why I'm not focusing on my Player PCs anymore. Just too many of what are essentially the same card. Sure I'll take a nice JSY of a Canuck that I don't have, or I'll upgrade to a nicer one but it just seems to be the latest in the rotation of inserts/parallels/ etc/etc.
Soon we'll be having this discussion about patch cards and 1/1s, which are already flooding the market. Sticks/pucks/skates are the next logical step, then it'll be shin pads, socks, pieces of helmet and eventually Gretzky 1/1 skin grafts.

I draw the line at scab cards.
So then what's left?? I don't have the room or budget for sticks and jerseys. What are you focusing on?????

I collect game used hockey only, have about 1200 different ones. I am finding it harder lately to find any game used of older retired players. Thanks heavens Decades came out. I picked up 10 game used, including a Mario and a Bossy for $11 of ebay. Couldnt believe they went for that price. The Mario was a 2 colour piece even.

Canucks RCs and RCs of anyone who played for Vancouver.
Rookie Cards will always have a premium on them. We now have ARPs and #/99 RCs but the RC will never really die the way inserts have and jerseys are, no matter what you do to them. YGs, while scrubs fall to $5, keep their value on the better players. Even going with a low end product like Victory or MVP the really good/popular players can still hold quite a premium, even if the others have dropped to $1.50.
A RC is a RC and that will never change.
