Some rather nice pick ups this week. Some major set hits and a big hit to my Duke basketball collection.

Set hits:

From Obed: 89 Topps Ron Darling, Todd Frohwirth, and Mike Flanagan. Very glad to pick up these. Thanks again Obed.

Pick ups from a trade with Matthewbritton: 89 Topps Traded: Dwight Smith and 90 Pro Set Keith McCants

Trade with moneymatt: received 11 Bowman 1st Chrome Dan Straily and a 90 UD in person auto from Ken Griffey Sr. Thanks Matt for the trade

Duke hit: Chris Collins, previous star and captain of the team and now an assistant coach. He signed 2 photos via his home address in 5 days.

Armanti Edwards - sent to the Carolina Panthers on 8/23/2011 and received both cards back signed on 8/31/2011.

Diani Taurasi - sent an 11' A&G on 8/15/2011 and received my card signed and an index card signed by her.

Chone Figgins - sent to him eariler this year on another A&G card I had. This time I got my 11' A&G back signed. Sent on 8/23/11 and received it back on 9/1/11

Corey Hart - Finally got this one back. Thought it was a goner. Sent sometime during spring training and received my 08 A&G signed on 9/1/11.

Overall a very fun and nice week of opening envelops!

Picked these up in the mail over the last few days.

Carlos Santana - Sent 2 cards c/o of the Indians and received them both signed. Another hit for my A&G set I am working on.

Frank Morris - Another hit to my 08 A&G set. Sent a card to this Rubik's Cube Champion c/o his home. Saw the last success took over a year and recevied my card in less then 10 days.

Also, picked up an in person signed Bruce Hurst for my 89 Topps via a 50/50.

Andy Sonnastine - sent a Hertiage to the Bulls on 8/26/2011 and received it back signed on 9/6/2011. Hate the bulls couldn't beat Columbus again this year to head back to the Governor's Cup. Was going to go to the Championship series, oh well, next year will be here before we know it.

Eric Sogard - sent an 11' A&G c/o the A's on 8/15/2011 and received it back signed rather quickly on 9/6/2011.

Daniel Hudson - sent 2 11' A&Gs on 8/15/2011 c/o his team and received them on 9/6/2011 as well and he personalized both of them

Rocky Bridges - signed my 10' Topps Brooklyn Dodgers card in 8 days. It has already been signed by Kipp, Morgan. and Jackson. Now off to another Brooklyn Dodgers.

Forgot to include Ben Zobist and Matt Serra this past week too.



Misc. success:

Sonya Thompson - She is a zombie on The Walking Dead series on A&E. It is my new fav. series and I sent her an e-mail requesting permission to write her. She replied and said to send whatever I wanted too. She normally charges $20 for her autograph at conventions. She signed the 2 photos I sent and sent 2 of her own and included a handwritten note.

Marshall Webb - He is the Brig. General who ran the operation from the Situation Room from the bin Laden mission. He signed my photo and I was glad to have gotten it this week and have the opportunity to share it today.

Jennifer Lawerence - the star of The Hunger Games, being filmed in Charlotte now. Sent her a photo via venue and cannot remember the date. She returned it on Thursday signed. Now if only Woody Harrelson will sin my photo I sent him.

Gary Sheffield - Let me know if you think this is a legit one or not. A hit for my 89 Topps

Mickey Mantle - Several cards signed on Mickey's cards... but they aren't from the Mick. I sent a few to his son, David Mantle and received my 09 A&G and 11 A&G cards signed and he also included several others. He signed it "Son of the Mick." Will trade any of the other ones besides the A&Gs

Yogi Berra - got another 87' Topps signed by Mr. Berra. Total time it took was 10 days this time and sent to the same address I used last time.

Jordan Zimmer - signed c/o the Nationals. Sent on 8/23/11 and received on 9/13/2011.

Dave Henderson - sent my 82' Topps card already signed by Dave Elder on 8/29/11 and received it back on 9/13/11. Wonder if the third party will sign it.

Jim Nantz - sent an '11 A&G c/o CBS Sports on 8/23/11 and received it back signed on 9/13/11. He thanked me in a note he sent back.

Clyde Lovelette - sent an Action Packed basketball card on 9/6/11 and received it signed and personalized on 9/13/11. Another HoFed to add to the collection.

Dallas Clark - sent a football card c/o the Colts on 8/29/11 and received it signed back on 9/14/11.

Bill Yoast - One of the real coaches from the team that was portrayed in Remember the Titans. He signed an index card in 5 days.

Frank Evans - Received in a trade with RHauch. Thanks for the trade



Duke basketball hits!
Jay Bryan - One of Coach K's first recruits. I e-mailed him a while back and he agreed to sign a photo of the Duke locker room. Sent him a letter and my photo and received it back signed. He also wrote me a very nice letter about one of his experiences with Coach K and the Duke team. He also contacted me to make sure I got the letter and signed photo and wants to meet sometime this year at a Duke basketball game! Very excited about this return!

Jack Marin - Another great Duke basketball player. Sent to photos of his playing days, one is a photo that also has Havlicek. Wonder if I should try to get him to sign it....

as for the sheffield, would love to send something to him.. what address did you use? Cant see it very well to tell if its legit or not. Im not very familiar with shef so i couldnt really help ya either way..

I actually bought it from a guy who sales autos. Looks like a buy back from some type as it is 1 of 1989 cards signed. This buy is known for being very reputable. I have compared it to some cert. autos and it looks pretty good. Will try to put up another photo.

I have been in training for the part of the past 1 1/2 week and will be gone for another 2 weeks beginning Sunday so hopefully I have lots of mail when I return.

Here are the pick ups and mail from the past 1 1/2 days.

Fred Haise - Astronaut on several missons, was on Apollo 13

Chae Marsh - Nitro girl, sent back in April of this year and she also sent a personlized 8x10 photo with a nice note thanking me for writing

Mike Fitzgerald, Marvell Wynne, and Jim Adduci all 89 Topps set hits.

Carl Erskine - sent him the 10' Topps team card a week ago and received it signed along with a signed index card. The card is also signed by 5 other Brooklyn Dodgers. I think I am done sending it out.

Tyson Ross - sent a 10 A&G on 5/15/2011 and received it back signed

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. - sent him a photo of the wreck he was involved in which pushed him over the finish line. Also signed an index card



Chandler Riggs - another Walking Dead hit from the television series. He signed 2 4x6 photos care of his agent.

Clay Buckley - played on one of Duke's National Championship team in the 90s. He signed a photo, sent asigned photo and wrote a nice note about his experience at Duke. He wants to meet up during one of the basketball games this upcoming year



And now for the biggest pick up for my 89' Topps set. Picked up all of these below at a card show. Also picked up a few 90 Upper Decks I needed. I already have some of the 89 Topps I picked up and would be willing to trade those.

Thanks. I wanted to send an 8x10 but I didn't have time to get one together before I sent this one to him. But I agree, this one is special. I am trying to see if I can send to others in the photo too.
