A friend of mine pulled one of those Kovalchuk's from a box when they first came out 10 years ago. Turned around and sold it at the Toronto expo for a large chunk of change (I want to say $800 or so) then.

Back when they first came out those were selling in the $1000's, I hope your friend got more than $800.

I don't recall how much it was exactly as he had 2 other big pulls in a span of 3 boxes and ended up selling all 3 in a large deal. I think he flipped all 3 for over $1700 at the time.

i figured at least $1000, has to be his most desirable RC. i'm tempted to bust open a decent amount of boxes so i have a slim chance of pulling one lol.
would still love to see it, hope someone on here has it or knows someone who does

I check in SCF inventory and there are a few RC but not this one.

More then 100,000 cards are currently listing in the inventories for hockey alone. Always a good idea to check them once in a while. This link should pull the rookie if one ever list one.

I remember back in the day that those drew a lot of hate towards Pacific.. collectors were already a little heated over all the parallels and that put a lot over the edge. A lot of them didn't think they should be classified as rookies.

There are still a lot of Titanium cases to be opened that are still floating around out there.
Kovalchuk numbered to #17?
Pfft.......Give me the Datsyuk numbered to #13 from the same set, and player that is much better than Kolvalchuk as well.

nahhhh......lol. cases shouldnt be too much these days. ik boxes have dropped, always wanted to get one but i keep thinking of the possible common JSY's ill end up with and put it off.
but yea, Datsyuk should fetch a pretty penny as well.

The last one sold at auction for $600....I know because I bought it.
Almost all of the Kovys have been pulled....there are only 3 I have not seen...but all of the others have been pulled.
Titanium is a nice card, but really the value of these dropped when Titanium went bust and released all of their replacement, unnumbered versions, out on the market. There 5 unnumbered Kovalchuks out there (perhaps more) and they really have dampened any long term value on these once prized cards.
Just look at the Titanium RC /99 from 2000-01, 2002-03 and 2003-04....they sell for $30-50 now on eBay....even the best ones....like Gaborik, Havlat, Fleury, and Staal.
I think the biggest reason is that there are so many cards that are numbered /10 or less....people rather have an auto RC or an Auto Patch RC over a plain RC that is serial numbered less 99.
Save your money and buy his UD Premier Auto RC /199. That's his best RC.
