Alex Ovechkin's Struggles
There's been a lengthy discussion on TSN's The Reporters this morning about Alex Ovechkin and how he's not the same Ovi that electrified the League during his first couple years.
His 7G 7A 14PTS stat line is respectable for many players but it's definitely not what we all expect to see from him.
What is the problem? Is it the coach? Has Ovi peaked?
Discuss.

Trade him to the Oilers and watch what happens.
Ovi is on a team of "Low Affect" Players. When you are a "Low Affect" person in life you either have a learning disability, are an introvert, or just plain uninteresting to talk to, or be around.
The Capitals have a Hockey identity crisis, and don't even know it.

I'll go with who cares?
This league is full of amazing young stars like Taylor Hall, Matt Duchene, Jeff Skinner, etc, etc, etc.
I am over the focus on Crosby and AO.
Just like anyone can be traded (See TGO) everyone can be replaced. EVERYONE.

See Kovalchuk, Ilya
Another Russian with HUGE skills who can't quite to adapt to what it takes to win in the NHL, therefore will be the 30-40 goal scorer who never wins.

Having watched 3-4 Caps games this year (and in the playoffs last year) it is quite evident Ovi has changed his playing style. He's more of a complete player, crashing the boards, blocking passes/shots compared to in the past when he always floated in the centre ice area and getting a lot of offensive breaks.
He's won all the big awards, I think he's chasing the cup now.

I will say what I have said from the beginning. The Caps WILL NOT win anything under Boudreau, I personally think he's a lame duck bum and I do think there are issues between him and Ovechkin and identity issues overall with the team.
