    I'll go with who cares?

This league is full of amazing young stars like Taylor Hall, Matt Duchene, Jeff Skinner, etc, etc, etc.

I am over the focus on Crosby and AO.

Just like anyone can be traded (See TGO) everyone can be replaced. EVERYONE.

    i agree with this

people crowd on ovi and crosby the "best players" but truth is, burmistrov LAYED OUT ovi thursday and had more points than him and outplayed him.
yet ovie is still the "best in the league"
there is no defnitive best player, there are numerous amazing ones, and they all play good at times, and not so good.

crosby has been out of action for almost a year, and guess what?
we have seen plenty of amazing plays, hits, fights, goals, assists, saves with him not playing.

the problem in washington is budreau, i agree with his benchings, but when you bench people like ovi and semin(in my opinion they are brats, so they kinda think they the best and if they benched by their coach, they hate the coach. now that their coach is benching them, not treating them as gods, etc.... they are getting angry and quit playing.

i think people are blind, its because he isnt allowed to be the flashy floater of old times any more. the team is trying to transition to a a 2 way game. if the caps went back to their old goal scoring ways then ovi would INSTANTLy score 45 goals this year.

for the people that can even linger with thoughts that he has ''peaked'' you need to go get your brain checked.

    See Kovalchuk, Ilya

Another Russian with HUGE skills who can't quite to adapt to what it takes to win in the NHL, therefore will be the 30-40 goal scorer who never wins.

    yup

His numbers have consistently declined since 07-08 - he's still a great player but the adjustments made to his game to be a more responsible 2-way player, coupled with the rest of the League perhaps figuring him out, it may mean that he'll no longer be the offensive dynamo he was in his first couple years. The change in the team's strategy to move away from what worked so well in the regular season has put some constraints on him and his ability to be an unbridled offensive force.

um sorry you fail, badly.( if you think ovechkin in anyway was losing his scoring abilities) ovechkins numbers only faltered in 10-11. in 09-10 he was still the same ovi . kovalchuk and ovi just dont have a clue how to properly adjust to a two way game.

same thing would happen to bure if he was playing today.

This to me is just stupid management of a player. The guy is a superstar scorer, but they want to change the way he plays. It's moronic. It would be like telling Bobby Orr to stay put on the blueline.

I'm going to go with the problem being the coach. This idea of taking offensive-minded players and changing their style to being defensive is hurting the Caps overall. Semin is clearly not buying into it, and I think Ovy, Backstrom, et al are following suit. Either go back to way the Caps are good at or get rid of Boudreau.
