    Cup Rookies /99

Are the cup rookie patchs game worn or enclosed event worn. The reason why I am wondering is because I don't wanna drop 700+ on a skinner if it is event worn. Seems pointless. Rather just buy a future watch patch.

Think the only 2 that state they are game used are the Crosby and Ovechkin

Though I would wondering about Ryan Whitney too (since it took like 5 years to complete the card. Surley by the time of the third print run, they had run out of photoshoot jersey?)

Anyway - Other than those exceptions - every Cup RC (/99 or not) has been made with a photoshoot jersey.

It is a little alarming that in the highest end set ever made uses jerseys that were put on by the player for 2 minutes and then taken off and chopped up...they are still the premier RC out there and it didn't hinder me from getting my whale, a 05-06 Vanek Cup APR /199.

It is what it is. We know from years gone by that they start production on The Cup as early as October/November (how else do you explain Pogge & Tlusty as /99's) so they have to get the memorabilia chopped up very early in the season to send them to the players to get the cards signed.

Future watch patch would also be event worn and not game used though. Any rookie jersey cards from Upper Deck (unless I'm mistaken) are all supposed to be Event worn, not game used.

Ik but for the same size of patch I would rather pay 1/5 of the price

Isn't Mikko Koivu's Cup RC from a real gamer?

    Was Koivu a redemption too?

I mentioned Whitney with my earlier post - not meant as a "for sure" but that I suspect it was game used (simply becuase they went through 3 print runs of the card before it was done).

If Koivu was a redemption, good chance it was also GU. I didn't think anything other Sid & OV was game used, and live in the pack though.

I get what the OP is saying. Bib bucks for those RCs, and they're all from photoshoot. Don't get the acutal NHL GU stuff until the next season.

Do you know that for sure ? They send the complete card to players ?

I would of think the player sign the front like these (memorabillia spot would be cut off)

After that the patch would be placed and the back of the card glued to the front.
