This just blows my mind. I can't conceive of this being legit. Anyone have a decent explanation?

That's an example of what happens when two people "go nuclear" with their bids. Dude A enters a bid so large that no matter what, he'll win. Doesn't matter if he has to pay $40 or $120, he gets it because people tire out and realize that it's not the only copy out there and give up bidding after a while.
Dude B does same as Dude A in the final seconds to ensure that no snipers come along and scoop him with .1 seconds left.
Do not expect to see this end with the seller getting paid.

Dead on! Can't believe the bidding went from $102 to $8,888 in one bid. Doesn't look like shilling. I think RMG81 nailed it. You gotta think the 2nd bidder is breathing a sigh of relief that his super high, "No way it'll ever go that much" bid is the 2nd highest and not the highest!Hidden Content

Two Guys having fun. One hoping to get the OV card for just over $100.00 so he throws an $8,800.00 Bid because he knows he has won the card probably for just over 100 Clams.
Guy #2 calls his buddy. Hey, what was your bid on the OV?
Guy #1 - I decided to have some fun, and put a hidden bid of $8,800.00 but I don't really want the card.
Guy #2 - I can take the hit, I'll bid $8,900.00 and I won't pay.
I'd put money on the fact that guy number 1 and number 2 are friends, common shills, or One Guy with multiple log-ins.
