Oh man, anyone else watching on TSN still feel the same way about those back to back interviews with Hodgson and Kassian? Pure raw awkwardness. That was pretty epic to hear from Hodgson 5 minutes after the fact, before he could even speak to anyone from the Sabres organization!! ... grasping for words and answers while James Duthie tells him what everyone else thinks and has said about it.... raw! lol

Yeah the Sabres scored getting a 1st round pick for Gaustad and getting Hodgson for Kassian.

So I hear we could have gotten Rolston in Boston for nothing. He cleared waivers or something earlier today? And Mottau has concussion issues so why would we pick him up.

More scoring in one afternoon than most of their hockey games!
No, seriously. Now all we need is a lotto pick and for Nashville to flame out, and maybe we can start to right the ship...
As soon as we keel-haul Ruff and Regier.

How can you be disappointed with the return for Gaustad? They got a 1st round pick for him! His career high in points is 36 and goals is 12. He's a pending UFA and the biggest asset he brings is grit and faceoffs. How many third line centers are worth a 1st rounder?

The Rolston/Mottau deal looks like it's depth for BOS and a salary dump for NYI. Looks like the Islanders pretty much got two undrafted C-class prospects for not having to pay Rolston any more.

Who's disappointed?
Getting that pick for Gaustad is more than we were hoping for, we figured in order to double dip in the 1st rd we'd have to trade Roy ( I was still hoping to see Roy go to CHI for Pirri and their 1st)
Now we just re-sign him come the UFA period for $2m and phase one is complete!
The only thing to be disappointed about is that Buffalo seems to think they're still in contention, when what most of the fans want is an overhaul, not a bandaid. We wanted them to be major sellers at the deadline instead of pretending they were contenders and winding up being on the bubble again.Last edited by Estovia; 02-27-2012 at 05:16 PM.

If Kassian cant jump into the lineup now ..... the Canucks just made their team weaker for the Cup run.
If Kassian cant jump into the lineup now ..... the Canucks could have easily just made this deal at the draft.
If Kassian cant jump into the lineup now ..... I see an early loser in this deal.
Lets see you explain this Gillis ....

ugh. Darcy Regier's presser is making me - and probably the other Sabres fans listening - want to kill him again.
They didn't shop Boyes because of the injury to McCormick and the decision to trade Gaustad? That's the kind of bad personnel decisions we've come to know and hate from Regier.
This made it sound like you were mad at Regier. Maybe I read it wrong. Either way, Sabres had a great day of acquisitions.
