My mail goes like this:
Monday: TONS of mail. Box is almost overflowing, everything is bent to fit in.
Tuesday: Few letter/bills. Maybe a smalle card package or two.
Wednesday: Few letter/bills. Maybe a smalle card package or two.
Thursday: Few letter/bills. Maybe a smalle card package or two.
Friday: Absolutely nothing.
Following Monday: TONS of mail. Box is almost overflowing, everything is bent to fit in.
So...is Friday no longer a mail day or is my carrier taking three day weekends?

I've been noticing trends lately with mine too.. We just have boxes on every 2nd street corner here (for whatever reason.. rest of Nanaimo gets it delivered to the door).
Monday - no mail
Tuesday - loads
Wednesday - meh
Thursday - laods
Friday - junk

I have the same problem.
Also, if I have to sign for a package, THEY DON'T EVEN DELIVER IT. They leave one of those tags that says "Sorry, we missed you, pick up your package tomorrow at the post office".
EVEN IF I AM HOME. Once I chased down the postman, and said "hey, what gives? I was home and you didn't even ring the bell"
At which point he informed me that it was easier to have people pick up their packages rather than carry them around with the ledger to have signed.
I filed a complaint. No news.

You'd have better luck filing a complaint with your Dog, as you would with Canada Post.

This has been my experience with Canada Post as well except that junk mail on Friday would be a good week. As an American, I thought it was hilarious that there was no mail on Saturdays...but apparently they enjoy 4 day weekends here at Edmonton CP.

There has never been mail on Saturday's in Canada. We believe in giving workers two days off in a row to be with their families.
The USA is the only place in the Western World where Letter Carriers work on Saturday.

I wonder if that's related to the USA being the only place in the Western World where there is the number 1 economy, historic recession notwithstanding. ; )
Kidding aside, I think we're about to move to a 5 day mailweek here in the States as well since the USPS is like a quadrillion dollars in the red. We gripe about snail mail stateside but many have never experienced firsthand the awesome juggernaut of incompetence that is Canada Post.

The 5 day home and business delivery week will save the USPS about 2 Billion Dollars.
It really won't put anybody out of work, it will employ more inside sorters and handlers as the volume of mail built up from Friday 5:00pm until Monday 5:00am will be astronomical.
When I lived in Fairfax, Virginia, by fluke I stumbled upon one of the bigger USPS shipping and sorting facilities........ They had 68 Bays all with 18 Wheel Semi-Traliers backed-up to them. This place was so big I almost dropped a pile into my trousers. Unreal the amount of mail that USPS moves in one day.
