    +1!!
Generally, I usually dont even surf buckets (I dont mind Lists as Control + F is our friend!). It may contain some nice cards and such but time is a virtue and if you want something sold then let it be seen!

What is also annoying is when someone says "buying best lot for X" and some decides to post a million cards with a link for each one (maybe its just me) =)

Same here the list of even start to work with the inventory of the site and wow .....bucket i don't know 9 pic on the same page it hard to see exactly who's the player sometime

I think it becomes a pointless advertising slogan announcing a firesale, and then not giving out any detail in the posters thread. It just leaves me ... Well!

I just turn a blind eye, and go on searching for someone who does put up details. At least if I know what somebody is wanting for their cards, then I have an idea how to approach them.

    Sometimes the seller doesn't know
I was selling a skinner silhouette and I had no idea what I would be able to get so I just said to send me offers

I dont think you quite understand. I agree with you, sometimes the seller doesnt know .... and thats fine. Were you trying to "firesale" your Skinner? This thread is strictly talking about people who state that they are fire selling item "X" ..... and either use the term firesale to draw people into their thread, or dont list prices at all, when a firesale means under current market value.

On the Skinner Silhouette side, there have been more than enough sales on ebay to know what a rough value for it is ... we all generally use the same tools to price our cards.

    Completely agree here! ^

I was left scratching my head with the comment to my post.

But in regards to that comment. If you are selling your Skinner, maybe your title would read "Taking Offers"? That's what we would likely advertise it as.

No I read gooses comment as general not firesale terms
If it firesale then ya prices should be known

As for the skinner, I still don't know the pricing
It's /25, but has a two collie patch, no cards on eBay look anything like it except for one
I know what I can get for it, but I wanted offers because what I know I could get is very low for what I wanted

Anyway, it'll be on eBay soon

Lol. Angry because firesale prices aren't lower than ebay?! As if ebay and SCF wasn't undermining and devaluing our collections enough.

It's not about de-valuing or undermining anything. "Fire sale" specifically means you are looking to earn money for your cards as quickly as possible, so the prices are generally lower. What everyone is saying, is if you're looking for ebay or higher prices, do not state firesale anywhere in the thread.

I dont think you quite understand the thread topic either. Im not undermining or devaluing anything, nor am I angry about peoples prices in sale threads .....

There are 2 definitions for "Fire Sale" on dictionary.com

1 - a special sale of merchandise actually or supposedly damaged by fire ( not quite what were looking for )

    2 -
a sale, as of assets, at reduced prices, in order to raise money quickly

Putting "firesale" in your thread heading, implies to the people youre trying to sell to is that ... if they want better than market value deals, come in here.

As the original post states also, im not really angry about it ... but it does get annoying and I felt the need to voice this frustration ( and am kind of happy it wasnt me just being picky =P, but others see it too ). Over the last week or so, there have been quite a few "firesale" threads, that dont quite live up to the name.

I guess, the point of this thread also could be ..... to point out to future sellers here on SCF, that this method of selling goes no where in a hurry fast ( I know that's the most broken English ever, but I like it =P ) ... and to save everyone some time. I dont care if you decide to ask for offers, or decide to put asking prices on your cards yourself .... but saying "firesale" in the title, and "all lowball offers will be ignored" ( or something like that ) in the same thread is kinda contradictory

AMEN, the board has become a haven for those flipping ebay cards, and don't get me started on the bump my own thread 20 times so it stays on top of all other sellers.
