Reports say Dwight is opting into his final year to stay with Orlando.

Obviously it's not official, but it seems when Orlando forced his hand he chose this route

Dwight should have kept his mouth shut the whole time. If asked he should have said that I am currently under contract to play for the Orlando Magic and intend on remaining here until either my contract expires or until I am asked to leave. If someone presses the issue he should say once my contract is terminated I would like to keep all my options open. No knock on the magic but it is strictly a business decision. That way he is not viewed as the bad guy and if he is traded it is not upon his request. But now he talked himself into a corner and the magic called his bluff.

Howard isn't going to sign an extension...If he planned on it, he would've said so by now.

personally i think dwight really really wants to stay in orlando but see's that they dont really have the will in them to go win it all, and im mainly talking the front office ie: GM otis smith, i mean instead of signing/trading for players like chris paul, carmelo, amare, bosh and all the other top free agents they signed/traded for jason richardson, hedo, earl clark etc

It all depends on if he wants to win. He'll never do it in Orlando. If he want's to pull a LaJoke and be a role player and not a star is also an issue, but I think that's not an issue with Howard. I'd love to see him go to Boston and help rebuild the Celtics, but I think LA is probably where he'll land. Him and Kobe would be sick and another run of Rings for LA but I don't think the other owners will allow it. He'll make an impact no matter where he goes but he'll need talent around him to win like everyone else, and talent is something not in Orlando now. I'd love to see him move regardless.

Of course, Dwight Howard has zero input on the trades/signings that take place....Face it, he's like LeBron...Funny how he has yet to sign the paperwork to 'opt into' his contract for next year....Orlando isn't calling his bluff.

I mentioned it before but you just don't trade for guys like that with the players the Magic had to offer. Besides, those players were all bound for big markets anyways. One of the points the lockout did not resolve. And could we please not act like Dwight is oblivious to the trades? When it doesn't work, it's because of the coach or GM. High profile player they've been constantly trying to appease had nothing to do with it..
