I really need your help with this guys PLEASE
hey so this happened to me the 1st time in over 3000 transactions on ebay + SCF.
I sold this card :
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...ht_1248wt_1037
And now received this email:
I received the above shipment on Thursday, April 26. Unfortunately, the package was ripped open and the card was taken. I contacted Canada Post about the stolen card. I can submit a claim to Canada Post to recoup my loss. They told me the SENDER would have to submit the claim in order for me to recoup my loss, which would be $19.00 plus postage and handling. Would you be so kind as to phone Canada Post at 1-800-267-1177 and report the problem. You will have to give them certain information about the shipment. Once that is done, they will reimburse me for the loss. I realize this is a bit of work for you, but it would be very much appreciated. Thanks!!
I trust that member even if he only has 25 feedbacks, i know post canada isn't gonna do a thing, i will end up refunding him. But could you help me finding this card!!! If you ever see it lmk please Its imp...
If you got any advice about the whole situation let me know please
I mean its 20$ not a whole big deal, that why i track over 50$, but still its a sad situation

It's most obviously stolen, but Canada Post won't do a thing? That's absurd to me. What would stop any postal worker from ripping open every piece of mail that wasn't insured?

Can't vouch for the rest, but that part is entirely true (but I fixed the underlined word). Its the sender's responsibility to report lost or stolen mail and receive a claim. You would then have to refund the buyer the money.
If you don't have it already, contact the buyer and ask for their phone number (its not included in the standard Paypal payment). Canada post will ask for the sender's address and contact info and the receiver's address and contact info (phone number).
You should also inform the buyer that Canada post may phone them to verify that the package was received damaged.
If you want any more specific details, just let me know. I've had to go through this once. Its not hard, its just an exercise in Canada post bureaucracy.
Cheers,
reoddai

I would think he's lying. When Canada Post delivers an obviously damaged or open piece of mail, it gets bagged and tagged....by that I mean it gets put in a fancy little zip lock bag with a note that states they have identified the package as damaged and contents missing ....then they deliver it. I had one clown pull the same crap on me and boy did his story change in a hurry. I sent with no tracking so he would have won a paypal disput regardless but still if I were you I would probe into his story a bit more and ask to see pics of the bag and tag
also send me his ID so I can block him .... history and odds would lead me to believe he's working the system and I want no part of him

What would stop 99.9% of postal workers from stealing is that they all know getting caught would not only mean the loss of a roughly $30 an hour job,but probably jail time,or at least lots of legal problems, not to mention the embarrasment and cost...You never know who is watching these days....Im not saying theft does not happen in the PO,Im sure it does, but opening everything that isnt insured is just a dumb comment to make.
Hopefully the OPs card will show up somewhere/somehow.

I somehow doubt they would deliver and open package just like that.

dont post his id
dont block him just because of this
this is why its inpossible to go about this hobby, something happens on a transaction, one person calls him a liar, then the while hobby asks for his id so everyone can block
theres no evidence to prove hes lying, why block him/post his id when you dont even know the real story

This is not always true. I've received several damaged packages that did not have the bag. I've also received packaged that have been "bagged & tagged" and the decision of when to use it is as arbitrary as the employee.
There's no harm in asking for scans though.
