I think just having a plan, regardless of the details, is a good idea. Whether you plan to spend $200 or $2,000.
I will be working mostly from a list, although I'm sure I'll also end up grabbing a few things that catch my eye. I do have somewhat of a plan:
1) Pick up cards from a couple of vendors for which I've already paid.
2) Possibly grab a box of something from Upper Deck or ITG, just for fun.
3) Working from a list, find cards of PC players that I still need. It's the uncertainty of prices here that forces me not to cap my spending. I won't spend for the sake of spending, though.
4) Browse for anything that catches my interest.
5) If time allows it, maybe grab a few items that I know I might be able to flip through trade or sale in order to get something better.
I will only be there Friday afternoon, so I will be moving quickly.

Great thread! All of the replies have provided some good ideas and thoughts.
I was going to buy an UD box for the redemption but nothing is brand new. I will therefore buy Panini for their redemption program. Their program varies depending on the product you open. Best return is to open a box of Certified - you get 10 redemption packs,
2nd best is Pinnicale and Elite - you get 6 redemption packs but Elite is pricier.
Limited and Crown Royale only get you 4 redemption packs.
Anyway, the balance of my money will go to PC and hopefully find a couple of cards for other SCF members that can't make it.
On with the hunt!!
