All he did was make a choke symbol, that lasted about 3 seconds, correct?

Incorrect.. He was running his mouth the entire series. From what I have read in other blogs and such he has done it through the season to other teams as well as the Heat.

Are the Heat incapable of talking back? Why does someone running their mouth equate to "Let's take his head off"? Sounds like bounty to me and Pittman was running out of time and opportunity to execute it. tbh it would have been much worse had he not slipped while he was launching himself. Should have been excused for the postseason.
And on the subject of Tyler, that's kind of what happens when you show the ball then bring it to your head. Blake hit Tony on a similar play last week. Both got the proper (same) call. But since we are talking the right call, why did Wade not get the same 2 game suspension and fine that Jason Smith/Blake got for blind siding Collison?Last edited by cgb_orl; 05-24-2012 at 09:44 AM.

I dont disagree with your first part. I believe I have said it several times over again, I think he got off light and it was highly excessive. I dont think anyone could possibly condone actually trying to hurt someone. Back to that point as well though, he is a no body. You are talking about men with HUGE egos. When a no body gets air time for running his mouth they want revenge. This happens in EVERY sport and no one cares. Once again baseball hits you with a fast ball and people think its god for the game. Fighting is allowed in hockey and people think its good for the game. These things happen in their own way and why are we just now saying something about it? Because everyone hates the Heat so now we have to have a problem with it. Pittman went overboard, we have all agreed with that. However, Stevenson deserved SOMETHING according to their code. Its just how people play the game. If you run your mouth, expect something in return. Thats how professional sports works.
Wade I dont think deserved a suspension, probably was a flagrant 2.
I dont think you guys quite understand that im not backing the Heat just to back them. Im backing them because everyone wants to pile on them despite knowing the reality of whats going on. Blind hatred that they are evil and everyone else is good. Hans is a thug, has been since college and apparently before then. Granger is quickly becoming a wanna-be thug with all of his talking and trying to start fights. Also notice he only does it with Lebron and Wade. He figures if he gets suspended along with one of those 2 guys its a positive for his team. Hes intentionally trying to start a fight to get them out of the series and thats bush league stuff.
I call the stuff how I see it and not for some homerish crap like most around here. I have backed Kobe, Durant, Wade, Lebron and everyone else. I appreciate the entertainment they bring me as a basketball fan. I just wish everyone could appreciate the game and stamp out all the BS that happens in these games. That goes for Wade pulling some cheap shots to eliminating all elbows such as Lebrons and every PF/C who gets a rebound.
I want to be entertained by this game, not watch fights one after another because both teams are being childish. I know a lot of you agree with me, but you refuse to see that both teams are doing this. You only see one side of it because you hate the other team.

To clarify the above since it seems a bit contradictory.
In the NHL during the Gretzky era (and until recently) you had guys on your teams whos sole responsibility ws to make sure the star didnt get hurt. No cheap shots, no one going out of their way to start crap with him, etc. Dave Semenko and eventually Marty McSorley went everywhere Gretzky went. They werent highly skilled but they made sure no one touched Gretzky. There was a bit of an unwritten rule that you didnt touch the stars anyway. People came to watch them and they made money for the entire league. Therefore if you take them out, you would only hurt your own paycheck. In the end with the fighting and everything else, hockey was a cleaner sport overall. No cheap shots, especially to stars. While it sounds odd, fighting encouraged a cleaner game overall. Recently in hockey they dont want fighting and it has only made for a ton of cheap shots and even more people head hunting the super stars. In essence, you took out fighting and made the game a lot dirtier.
I believe something of the same should be in the NBA. During the Jordan, Magic, and Bird eras, you didnt touch those guys. You didnt do all this cheap stuff that you ar seeing now a days. The Pistons were knwon for being dirty but they often didnt go after a Jordan type person because in the end they knew it was better for their paychecks to not do it. They got in fights and whatever but in the end the game didnt have the big cheap shots it has now. Now even bench players have egos bigger then Jordans and things need to be evened out at some point. Stevenson would be sitting at home if it werent for a Granger or West, Lebron or Wade. He should respect that and not push it. All he is doign in the end is hurting his paycheck and possibly even his ability to have a job.
What do you think happens if Lebron gets hurt for the season? The NBA will lose tens of millions of dollars. He needs to learn that and respect it. If he cant learn respect on his own then someone has to come teach it to him.
In the end, thats my point and I believe thats how the NBA works.

Do you have any links with quotes? I want to see what he said... Either way the actually trash talk didn't mean anything. If it did, Granger would have gotten an elbow to the throat by now.

I will see what I can come up with, but a recent ESPN article eludes to this fact as well.

I think you missed my point with the above though. If you have skills to back up your game, you can talk. Being a noone and trying to get your name out there not through basketball but through being a punk will have a reaction much like you saw to Stevenson.

FWIW: He has a long long long history of this as well, dating back to high school.

"2008 Spalding Hoophall Classic -- Elite Prospects

This was a pretty average performance out of star junior Lance Stephenson (#5 Scout, #4 Rivals) in Lincoln’s blowout win over Milwaukee Pius. The usual antics that seem to follow the talented guard were there: Questionable effort, poor body language, trash talking, and the ability to do basically anything he wants in spurts on the court."Last edited by Kutzy; 05-24-2012 at 04:06 PM.

Nothing there said anything about Stephenson trash talking prior to the elbow. So when does Dexter "a noone trying to get their name out there not through basketball but through being a punk" Pittman get an elbow to his throat? hehe
I don't really think Stephenson intended it to be as blown up as it was obviously. And his role in High school doesn't have much to do with getting hit with an insane elbow to the throat in the final minutes of a 2nd round playoff game years later, bur in High school, he was one the top players in the nation.

Do you honestly read nothing I post? Or do you pick things out. Point to a single time where I said he deserved an elbow to the throat. Pick out several times I said Pittman was excessive and deserves a bigger punishment. What Pittman did was not deserving to Stephenson. However he did deserve, something. Probably a hard foul to some extent, but nothing like he got. Are we clear on that? You seem to keep going back to this like I disagree with you or something.
Second of all, did you read the article? Did you see where it talked about him running his mouth DURING THE SEASON and off season? If not, please read it again, because it there.
During high school and college he routinely ran his mouth more then he played basketball. He was one of the best there was and probably would have been the best at the time if he didnt run his mouth so much. His scouting reports mention over and over how he would be lazy and talk trash instead of actually playing. However, more to the point, he still has the same ways except he is no where near that type of player in the NBA. He needs to learn that. Obviously he hasnt to date and maybe this will wake him up to the fact.
ONCE AGAIN though, he did not deserve the elbow to the throat. We good on that part? Can we stop using that like I think it was cool? I dont think anyone should get an elbow to the throat.Last edited by Kutzy; 05-24-2012 at 04:26 PM.
