Report: Magic, Nets Still Talking?
The Nets and the Orlando Magic are discussing a trade that would send Howard to the Nets for Brook Lopez, Kris Humphries, MarShon Brooks and the Nets’ first-round picks in 2013, 2015 and 2017, sources said. Lopez and Humphries, who are both free agents, would go to Orlando in sign-and-trade deals.

If they could get d 12 as well team would become a contender for sure.... But where would there depth be? Maybe they would have to find some veterans to accept less money to play for a contender. :)

I think Orlando has the upperhand on this deal. That is a lot for Howard, who probably is going to get tired of not winning over there also and will request a trade.

Sounds familiar to another squad a couple years ago. Ring chasers will come.

For veterans who never won a championship I don't feel as if they should be shed in a negative light because they want a ring. You're right some veterans will come because they saw how it worked in Miami. As a celtics fan they could be in for a rough stretch if the Heat stay strong, bulls return to form and nets become a contender. Ouch lol

Veterans chasing a ring has been going on for years and will continue to happen and I don't blame them one bit. If NJ can make that trade happen, they should make it happen. The Magic are asking for too much in return. Giving up M. Brooks is big if the trade happens, the first round picks are going to be late picks anyways.

A different user above made it sound like a crime to what to get a ring by going to a good team for less money. I think Orlando would be getting a great crop of players in that deal if Lopez can stay on the court. Brooks will for sure I think become at least a solid starting sg in the league....

Just like when an owner does resign a player when his contract is up a player should have the right whenever his contract up to either retire, play for more money or "chase a ring". I have absolutely no problem with these so called ring chasers as long as they fulfill their contract from their old team and didn't make a stink about leaving prior to playing out their contract. If an owner can trade or cut a player in favor of bringing in someone who has a better chance of bringing them a championship why should a player get publically castrated for doing essentially the same thing that the owner is doing?
