Paul, Deron, Westbrook, Rondo, TOny Parker, Tyreke Evans, Jennings... Gets hairy after that.

Lawson, Nash, Wall, Maybe Lou WIlliams or Holliday.

I dunno... Nash is in the bottom part of the top 10 last year I think. Not out of it though.

    Kyrie Irving?

People who rate Tyreke, Jennings, Lawson, Wall, Williams, or Holiday in the same breathe as Nash are fantasy basketball focusers who put Sportscenter highlights and fantasy numbers ahead of real world translations.

On an aging, unimposing Suns team Nash shot 50% from the field even though no one on the team could create their own shot, had the highest assist rate in the NBA (assists/teams assists), 40% from the 3 point line, and 90% from the free throw line even though he played about 5 minutes less per game than most of those guys. He put the Suns within one game of a playoff spot in the tougher conference.

Put Tyreke Evans on the Knicks, and you have a fistfight over the basketball between him and Carmelo. Put Nash on the team and he might actually make it work with Amare and Carmelo.

There are point guards that are ahead of him (Rose, Westbrook, Rondo, Deron, Paul, probably Parker), but you really think putting one other guy not on this list on Team X results in more wins than putting Steve Nash on that team? Sure, Irving will be on that list one day, but he's not a free agent, nor will he be.

I think you people have misunderstood my post.

I was trying to point out that there were very few people who are better then nash. In fact I pointed out only maybe 5 people who were better then him. I personally would take nash as about the 7th best PG last season.

Deron, Paul, Rondo, Parker, Westbrook and Rose are the only ones in my mind who were better.

I hope I have cleared this up

Ok, I went back and I think I did misunderstand it at first. I think we both agree Rose, Paul, Rondo, Deron, and Westbrook are higher, I put Parker and Nash in the same tier, and then the remaining guys. I love Tyreke's athleticism, but he strikes me as a guy you are just going to have a hard time building a long term winner around.... and maybe it's personal, but if I have Brandon Jennings running my team I get used to the lottery each year.

Well this thread kind of turned into the "Best Point Guard" debate but I guess it is relevant as they are a few great PGs available in free agency.

New news says that the Raptors are offering 3 years $36million to Nash. Wow, seems steep. Nash has great conditioning but the human body can handle only so much of this sport.
Can he even last 3 years?

Dwight Howard only wants to be in Brooklyn with Gerald Wallace, who has agreed to a 4 year deal reportedly, and Deron Williams.
I saw this happening and hope it does for the sake of NBA competition. This will make the Miami Heat's run to next years NBA Finals more interesting!

Will DH12 work with the Nets and will they make the Playoffs if they land him?

Recent article says that the Magic have NO interest in trading Howard to the Nets because they simply arent offering enough.
IMO if U are the Magic better get something for him now before he does leave for Free Agency!

Maybe the Bynum for Howard deal goes through after all???

Also been hearing alot about Goran Dragic returning to the Suns. I really liked the kid when he played here in Phoenix and thought he was the "Next Nash"
Not that Dragic and Nash will have similar careers but that Dragic seemed the heir apparent to the starting PG role.
Hopefully for the Suns we can get a tough younger vet PG like Goran who can lead Marshall and the other young players forward.

Yes, I don't see why not. Nash is 38 right now. Stockton played until he was 41 and was effective even in his last year. Stockton played and started in all 82 games during his last season, so conditioning wasn't really an issue with Stockton.

I like Dragic a lot too. I would like to see him come back to Phoenix, but I think it's a slim chance since we drafted Marshall and still have Telfair & Brooks.

Joe Johnson to the nets looks like a done deal... That should be enough to bring back Deron back.. I dont Howard is a sure shot for the nets now. Should be an interesting next 48 hours. I hope celtics can bring back some key parts and also add perhaps a nice back up sf for pierce.

    Celtics, Jeff Green near deal

Green, traded to Boston in February of 2011, sat out the entire 2011-12 season after undergoing surgery to repair an aortic aneurysm that was detected in training camp as the two sides prepared to sign a one-year, $9 million deal.

Sources: Nets agree to Hawks trade

The deal as it stands, as reported Sunday night by ESPN.com, calls for the Nets to send the expiring contracts of Jordan Farmar, Johan Petro, Anthony Morrow and Jordan Williams along with DeShawn Stevenson (via sign-and-trade) and a future first-round pick (lottery-protected in 2013 via Houston) to Atlanta in exchange for Johnson. This trade construction allows the Nets to meet two of their key objectives, as they managed to keep promising guard MarShon Brooks out of the trade as well as retain their own first-round pick in 2013.

Celtics still talking with Ray Allen

ALLSTON, Mass. -- Boston Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge said Monday that it's status quo with free agent shooting guard Ray Allen but stressed that Allen remains one of the team's primary targets as it attempts to reassemble its core for the 2012-13 season.

Well it seems almost impossible for Dwight Howard to go to Brooklyn now with the deal they made for Joe Johnson today. I think it is likely Deron Williams will re-sign with the Nets leaving no room for Howard at all!!

To me it also looks like Boston is trying to keep the band together and have a almost certain deal in re-signing Jeff Green.

Jay I love the news links above. I am still nervous about ray ray heading to south beach. Green would be perfect to have as a 3/4. If bass returned green could take both back up minutes for Pierce and Bass if he resigns.
