Animal disection
October is national say no to disection month. What are your thought on disection? The bible does indeed say "thou shalt not kill". I remember being in grade school back in the 1980s and 1990s in biology when it was time to disect the frog the teacher gave us the option of doing a book assignment if you did not want to disect the frog.

Isn't the frog already dead? If so then you wouldn't be killing it....

i never heard of live dissecting.
there are some religions against it, but I don't care either way, when your dead, your dead.

Doesn't "Thou shall not kill." only apply to humans?

When I was in school the frogs were already dead. I wasn't going to kill the frog but if it was already dead I didn't care. Now being older and wiser I wouldn't want to touch anyone's dead frogs.

that last sentence made me shoot water out my nose!!!!!!!!!!!!
i must have a sick mind today!!!!!!!!!! but dang that was funny!!!!
for me, we live on an acre of woods that backs up to acres and acres of woods owned by the city. my cat brings up rabbits, mice, birds, and other dead goodies for me. i have to bag them and throw them in the garbage, so I have to touch the dead.
also my wife is a hospice nurse, i get to here the stories of her dealing with dead bodies, no way i could do what she does.

Actually it dosen't. It goes back to people people picking and chosing what's convient for them to follow and ignoring the rest. When it says thou shall not kill that is it. It never says thou shall not kill humans.Last edited by mrveggieman; 10-15-2012 at 03:16 PM.

If it applies to animals, explain to me why we shouldn't kill any animals, but it's okay to eatmost of them?
It's not the Bible contradicting itself, the commandments apply to humans.
With that said,if slicing open an aldready dead frog will can grow the interest and understanding of someone who will go on to cure cancer or AIDS, so be it. Sometimes the greater good has to be taken in.

I don't think that the bible really encourages meat consumption. See Genesis 1:29-31.

If you guys are bothered by a frog after we cut open the frog we had to dissect a pig fetus for our final. I'm guessing that wouldn't have gone over too well with this crowd.....
