Point taken, but what are you going to do with all the livestock that we now pen and cage? Where would they live? How would we control their populations if we could not kill them. What about mosquitos? Cockroaches? Rats? Surely God doesn't include them in his "Thou shalt not kill."?

the only religious reference about food i consider important is what Jesus said,
" For what goes into your mouth will not defile you, but that which issues from your mouth - it is that which will defile you."

veggie - you talk often about people who pick and choose what they want from scripture and yet you blatantly do the same thing. Multiple times in scripture people are told to eat meat, culminating in Peter being told in acts that all food is acceptable. We also have the quote from jesus that shrew just posted. Yet you keep quoting 1 verse because it backs up your vegetarian choice.
Secondly, thou shall not kill is referring to humans and animals? are you serious? You would be hard pressed to find a single person who thinks that who is not a vegetarian looking to prove their cause.
so let me get this straight, God thinks killing animals is bad enough to include in the ten commandments, and then goes on to tell them all the ways to be made right with God involve animal sacrifice? How in the world would breaking one of the ten commandments atone for their sin? That idea doesn't pass any version of logic.

Those animals are mass produced for the sake of human consumption. That is their only reason for existance. If humans stope eating meat then they would not be born into the hell on earth that theyhave to experience. Also there would be less rodents because they wouldn't be following the sent of rotten carnage.Drug and smoke free trading.

There are a lot of things mentioned in the bible that are socially acceptable by today's standards. Do you really want to go there?

huh? what does that have to do with anything? who said anything about social acceptability?
God's commands on sacrifices is part of the same law as the ten commandments so your argument makes zero sense. Also, you want to point to one verse in scripture when God himself overturns that in scripture.
