Conversely, they have had the power to stop Obama from making any progress. Its hard to help out when you voluntarily tie your hands behind your back by signing a pledge of no tax hikes forced on you by a non-elected lobbyist. Good for the GOP, bad for the country.

Stagnation is better than the freefall the economy was in. Look at it this way. If you are being repeatedly punched in the face by an assailant. Wouldn't the fact they stopped hitting you be a sign of progress? It sure would be to me.
