Well, I guess if you don't like gay marriage then I guess we should ban all marriage, since straight people being married causes gays to want the same.

The war on drugs is important. Make caffeine illegal!

Ban sex, since there's never been an abortion that wasn't preceded by sex!

The issue here is things like this keep happening more frequently and yet we change nothing to fix it. I'd rather they put out far harsher gun policies with the hope it might prevent even one more death, then to do nothing at all. Doing nothing at all is a slap to the face to every person that;s lost their life's to these senseless acts. Someone brought up the point of gun bans in certain cities and it not doing anything. Well no crap. When they are legal a half hour drive away its not difficult to get them. People's reliance and need to own a gun just to own one is pathetic to me.

If your child got into your gun safe somehow and killed themselves would you still be up in arms of people taking away your precious firearms? I bet the guy's mom really wished it wasn't too late for her not to own those three guns. Maybe he would have got the guns elsewhere, but he didn't. Had I owned guns and someone used them to commit a terrible massacre like this I would never forgive myself. And I know what some thick headed people around here are going to say, the owning a car arguement. A car isn't designed to kill, guns are. If I did own a gun and it was voted on and decided that its in my communities best interest for me not to own it, I would give up my right. If you fear for your families saftey and want to protect them buy a taser. If you're a hunter and are set on you getting your annual buck, duck, or whatever it is you're after, bow hunt. The right to bare arms is outdated to me but thats just my opinion. I admit though it is skewed because I have never felt the need to kill something for sport or to own one for my own protection. Just reading some of these comments about the mere mention people's guns might be taken away shows me just how paranoid people are. You think your stupid guns would help you one bit this day and age against the US government and the US military? Really?

Yeah why is it that some people get all hot and bothered over what happens to israel but some guy in China kills a bunch of kids with a knife and not one peep of it? Someone can can on a warpath with a knife and kill a bunch of people just as easy as a gun. Should we ban all knives?

Which is easier to stop a guy wielding a knife or a guy with a few handguns an assault rifle? Give me a break. I am a bit shocked I read some of the nonsense some of you post. The guy killed a bunch of 6 year olds, it could have been done easily bare handed, what should we do cut people's hands off. Obviously this is sarcasm but its something unintelligent I expect some of you to post. There is a HUGE difference between a knife and a fire arm. Go hunt a deer with a knife and tell me its the same.

Great post. I was just going to comment on all the fear-mongering that goes on here about the need to have an armed citizenry. People really need to grow up and learn how good they have it to live in a western democracy.

I agree. And for the record I grew up and around the heavy influence of hunting and firearms. I knew right away after going along on a deer hunt when I was younger guns weren't for me. I admit I have never had much interest in them, though I have shot them a handful of times. My life doesn't revolve around them enough for me to put the lives of others at risk or the paranoia of the government ahead of common sense. Again though i do show obvious bias since I don't hunt and I don't fear the US government, nor do I fear for my families safety. If I did, I'd move. And I do think the constitution is slightly out dated. I also think for the most part hunting is a bit stupid as well. Unless you need to do it to feed your family and or make a living I don't see the sport/point in it, again thats just me.

Just read an article on his mom...and a strong message comes out of it...If you know your child or someone you love is having issues you need to get help. I know it's easier to leave it be and think it will take care of itself but we need action otherwise something like this could happen...

There's a lot of lessons to come from recent incidents. That is definitely one. As is the general attitude towards guns, the media's treatment of these incidents and our seeming need to politicize death, often by trying not to.
