Yeah this set is insane. Got 42 out 0f 65 for a total BV of 1970.00$. Of course I am missing all of the SP But I do have the Denis Savard and paid just a little over 30$ for it.

The official SP's are: Nilan, Lapointe, Robinson, Shutt, and Lemaire. The Lemaire is reportedly non-existent, as the rumour is that he/his agent lost the cards returning them to UD. Those are in ascending order of scarcity, as there's only ever been a couple Shutt signings, and it went for $2500 on eBay in the only ever auction.

There are also some very hard to find cards, including: Bowman, Roy, Beliveau, Chelios, Langway, Savard, and a couple others are pretty scarce.

Great set. At one point I had 45 of the autos in the set but hit the wall as all that was left were $200+ cards. LOL

Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Why are they so expensive? Are they extremely short printed?

Many sellers did forsee the popularity of this set and jump on the SP and now are asking carzy prices if you ask me. Somes cards are said to be as low as 5 cards but these are rumors as no one really know for sure. But many habs fan tried to complete the set, so this was definitly a receipy for high prices when you put everything together.

The set is really nice and since they are all habs and it was for the centenial it got really popular really fast, Price kept rising even if many drop the idea to complete the set. But some are still attempting to complete it. Other try to get as many as they can afford. So the set remain popular even after five years. You have to say that for any team collector the whole release was a nice product and we will not see one release like this any time soon.

Very, very hard to find. UD never put out print run numbers but given how quickly this product sold out and how many individual copies have surfaced, I would be very surprised to learn that there were more than 10-15 copies of the Nilan, more than 10 of the Lapointe, and more than 5 of the other two. A buddy of mine back in Halifax had the Robinson and made himself a thousand bucks. Myself, I flipped my copy of the Lapointe and paid for a small vacation that summer.

I hear the odd tale now and then of some places still having a couple of boxes available for sale, and wow would it ever be a fun break. Unless you hit a Komisarek or Higgins auto, you'll do well in making money.
