Why can't gun control be logical?
I am completely against almost all forms of gun control, but I understand that it will happen no matter what.
My question is why don't they think when they make gun laws? Some of the most commonly banned things are high capacity mags, fully auto guns, and assault rifles.
Out of the 3, the ban on high capacity mags seems the most reasonable. I don't agree with it, but I see the logic. If the shooter has a 10 round mag, they can shoot 10 times before they need to reload. If they have 30, they get 30 shots. I could argue that it takes a few seconds to reload, but I still can see how the ban could potentially help.
Why they would want to ban full auto guns is beyond me. Just about anyone who has shot a gun before will tell you that when shooting full auto, there is too much recoil to shoot accurately. The reason almost every single shooting is done with a semi auto gun is because with a full auto, you would be shooting all over and hitting very few people. I understand the logic that the faster the gun can shoot the quicker it can kill, but anyone who has shot guns before knows that a shooter would be better off with something semi auto.
But what I understand the least is the ban on "assault rifles". Every single law banning assault rifles has a new definition for them, and almost every single one targets civilian versions of military rifles, mainly the AR-15 and AK-47. The entire point of these guns (when used in the military) is to injure someone to the point where they can not shoot any more. It doesn't matter much if they are dead or alive, just that they can't shoot. On the other hand, hunting rifles are specifically made to kill animals much larger than a human. If you shoot a deer and it can limp away, it does you no good. If a gun can kill a deer, it can easily kill a human. So why do they keep on trying to ban assault rifles (which often just slightly change the way the guns look, but the manufacturers make just about the same thing that looks slightly different), when hunting rifles are many times more dangerous?

Just wait until all these liberals want pressure cooker control. No kitchen is safe. Late term abortions are fine, what a joke.

It can't be logical because anti-gun nut liberals are not logical. They don't understand guns. They don't know anything about guns.
Under the liberal ideal of gun control, the gun below is a deadly assault rifle. It has two pistol grips, a large capacity magazine and a folding stock. Nevermind that it is a toy airsoft gun that shoots plastic BBs, under the liberal definition of an assault weapon, this gun would be banned and illegal to own. Liberal gun control ignores the lethality of a gun and only addresses cosmetic aspects.
I repeat. Liberals don't understand guns.

Fail.
>A pressure cooker's main function is not to inflict damage
>Late term abortions are fine?
Really?
I don't know any liberal that thinks that....although making stupid statements by conservatives are almost a given.
BTW, how did you go from a ridiculous strawman about pressure coookers to an insane non-sequitur such as abortions?
Making logical fallacies such as strawmen, non-sequiturs, and straight up appeals to nonsense is something conservatives are experts are.
Thank you for proving it.

I don't believe they understand much of anything.
I was at the mall yesterday and noticed a driver looking for a parking place. I flagged the driver down and pointed to a handicap parking space that was open. The driver looked puzzled and rolled down his window and said "I'm not handicapped". I told him I was sorry and that I saw his Obama bumper sticker and just assumed he suffered from some type of mental disorder. He gave me the finger and yelled obscenities at me. I guess his finger denoted his high IQ of 1. That's the last time I try to help anyone with a mental disorder.

In the U.S....
>91% of Americans want universal background checks (at the very least that would be a good start on LOGICAL gun control)
>All but 3 GOP senators REJECT a bill on better background checks.
>Why? Because the NRA told them that they would be "punished" for voting for it.
That's why we can't have ANY logical gun control.....because one side is NOT about talking about fixing things, they like the way things are.
More shootings = More gun talk
More gun talk = More paranoia by the right
More Paranoia by the right = More gun sales
More gun sales = More money

why do we blame the guns on anything....
they dont shoot themselves...
why dont we blame the people shooting them....why do we let these guys who shoot them live?
im so lost on this country anymore...we dont ever want to put the blame on the individual anymore

Because the guns are the weapon being used.
The only function a gun has is to inflict damage, it has no other purpose.
But most people are not even talking about banning any guns, they just want restrictions on how they are sold, making sure that everyone who buys them gets a background check, and that the gun itself doesn't somehow land in the wrong hands.
That's very reasonable.
We do.
But we're also knowledgeable of how freaking easy it is to acquire these weapons and they shouldn't land in the hands of the mentally ill, or anyone and I mean ANYONE that has committed a violent crime.....you know what's a start?
UNIVERSAL BACKGROUND CHECKS!
Again, that's reasonable.
>Oh wait, the GOP almost unanimously voted that down thanks to the NRA.
Yeah me too.
I live in a country where the NRA has more influence than 91% of the population.
I live in a country where more shootings is a good thing for organizations like the NRA because it means more gun sales thanks to the ridiculous fear mongering they propagate.
I live in a country that can't get anything done unless you have an insane amount of money to bribe enough people.
Yeah, I'm lost too.

Agreed, they dont have a clue...If it looks scary or dangerous they dont like it or want it available. I could do waaay more damage with my single-fire 7MM Short Mag than most of these fully and semi-auto guns there targeting.
One form of gun control that they used against us already without having anything put into law is soaking up all of the available ammunition available so that we cant stock up ourselves or use our guns as we have everyday. They are basically snubbing there noses at us and getting around the laws to get what they want.
Just who is behind our government leadership nowdays anyway? Who is pulling all the strings and trying to take more and more control over our everyday lives?
I stand behind the peopl of my country and love our country as it was or is but now oppose the government and where were headed as I never have before....
