I lock all the doors at night. I would hope everyone does.
Should be interesting to see where you go with this...Last edited by MadMan1978; 04-22-2013 at 12:40 PM. Reason: oops

Yup. That's why I don't need a gun. And I live around zero cops.

You should lock doors as it prevents anything from happening such as someone walking into your house. Odds are no one will ever test your handle to see if it is locked but this way you prevent a low level robber from coming inside. By keeping your doors locked it doesn't mean you are scared. It means you have enough common sense to think it is silly to have locks on my doors and not use them just in case. Same with guns. I have them to hunt with but since I have them I might as well know how to use them just in case I need to in the future

Until you can kill mass amounts of people with a semi automatic deadbolt, this makes no sense. Saying the base level of security is the same as arming yourself doesn't make sense. They are different levels of the same thing, but they are infinitely different levels.
What you're saying is that storing some food to eat is the same thing as hoarding food for the apocalypse. It isn't.
Im not saying it's not within your rights to have just about any level of security you want, it is. I'm just saying don't kid yourself as to why you have that level of security. If you have to arm yourselves to be called "land of the free" I would say you aren't "land of the free" and definitely not "home of the brave" based on that alone.
As for hunting, hey, I grew up in a small town. My family didn't hunt, so I've never fired a gun. Many of my friends hunted though, which meant that (under proper supervision) I've held a fair amount. Hunters tend to have the absolute most respect for weapons of any group, military included, and I've seen that with my own eyes. I'm also a collector of things and understand that, while most collectors do have one or a few guns they shoot at targets or hunt with, most of their collection is under glass and they collect guns, not ammo.
I'm also a parent, so I understand the fear. I get it. I just think you're kidding yourself when you say there's no fear involved. Personally, what you've described isn't the "criminals are everywhere and the gubmint's gonna come in and take my crap" paranoia that I hear all too often, but there is fear there, or they wouldn't "also" be for hunting, they'd "also" be for protection.Last edited by Wickabee; 04-22-2013 at 01:00 PM.

Not really. My guns can't kill anyone else as they are locked up and only mine or my wife's fingerprints can get them out. Either way though if you want to think I am scared or whatever go for it. I'm not going to say there aren't people out there who buy guns out of fear but I really don't think that is the majority

Logic used by conservatives about guns laws.
>Criminals will NOT obey any gun laws, there's no need for them, it only affects law abiding gun owners.
Ok, using this logic.
>Criminals will NOT obey traffic laws, there's no need for them, it only affects law abiding motorists.

Criminals do not obey any laws, so why have them? Laws just restrict the freedoms of law abiding people!

Truly honest people need no help. They're the ones returning found wallets with all the cash still inside.
