Does anyone approach these issues with common sense? Common sense dictates that insurance companies NEED consumers in order to make money. Yet we keep being bombarded with claims of "cancellation" notices going out. Those companies sending out the notices would be including alternate plans to serve their clients. No insurance company is just going to cut their client base by 40% without attempting to keep them. This continual fear-mongering is amateurish at best.

Sure they'll try to keep their clients, but you don't see an issue with getting your policy cancelled and then offered another one that has additional things you don't want and being asked to pay 25%, 50%, or 100% more? That's why people are angry. They were promised that if they were happy with what they had, they could keep it. The President said this hundreds of times on the campaign trail and in national debates. It was a huge selling point of Obamacare. It was a lie.

If you are asked to pay 25%, 50% or 100% more. Tell your insurance company to take a flying leap and sign up and pick an ACA plan that works best for you. It will not cost you 25%, 50% or 100% more.

Unless you are getting a subsidy or are old, you are probably going to pay more. That is how the system is designed.

That is NOT how the system is designed. The system is designed just like any other insurance setup. The more people paying, the lower the cost to each.

I believe that is incorrect. They have set rates right now by State, County, Age, and Individual/Family. I downloaded the database, so if you provide me those variables, I'll post the plan options. These rates will not automatically decrease if more people sign up. After all, if only the old and sick sign up, rather than the young and healthy, why would that drive down rates? My assumption is that the rates will be good for one year and then the rates will be modified, just like normal insurance plans. They will look at outlays versus premiums and adjust accordingly. The government has caps on what the companies on the exchange can charge, so if companies feel like they will lose money offering a plan, even at the maximum allowed premium, I am sure the plan will just get dropped.

People smarter than me have said that Obamacare will fail unless they can get young, healthy people to sign up. On average, they will need to come up with $3200/year for a plan, so I believe many will opt out, putting the exchanges in danger.

Here is another example for you of people losing access to their doctor. "If you like you plan you can keep it" was a huge lie by the administration that claimed it was going to be the most transparent ever.

Elderly New Yorkers are in a panic after getting notices that insurance companies are booting their doctors from the Medicare Advantage program as a result of the shifting medical landscape under ObamaCare.

That leaves patients with unenviable choices: keep the same insurance plan and find another doctor, pay out of pocket or look for another plan where their physician is a member.

New York State Medical Society President Sam Unterricht is demanding a congressional probe after learning that one health carrier alone, UnitedHealthcare, is terminating contracts with up to 2,100 doctors serving 8,000 Medicare Advantage patients in the New York metro region.

So...they can keep their plan if they want.

Yes, but lose they are losing the doctor they go to. We've had the same primary care physician for 15 years. It would be a big deal if that was no longer an option with our plan.

I don't see anything wrong with making this choice. I am sure they will not lose any coverage, or pay any more and they will still have their doctor.
